Shakur Stevenson Calls for Ban on Boxing Page After Spreading Fake Fight News

Shakur Stevenson might not have found an opponent for himself yet, but he found some fake news about himself on social media today! The undefeated WBC lightweight champion last entered the ring against Edwin De Los Santos back in November last year. While he managed to pull off a win, he wouldn’t have guessed what happened next.

The boxing world collectively criticized the Newark native for his lackluster showing against a fighter everyone thought was an easy win. Since then, he has failed to convince anyone to enter the ring against him. Besides a select few who are aiming to make a name for themselves from Shakur’s endless drama. Meanwhile, a tweet spreading fake news caught Shakur’s eye!

Shakur Stevenson refutes claims about Campbell Hatton defeating Terence Crawford

Earlier today, a page on X (formerly Twitter) highlighted a false statement from Shakur Stevenson! The page claiming to be the number one boxing reporter asserted Shakur said, “That guy Campbell Hatton definitely is p4p number 1 at the [moment], but [I] am willing to go up to 140 and to fight against him and take his belt away. He a tough mf for real, and he even would beat my brother Bud.”

Moments later, Shakur found the tweet and cleared the air, claiming he never said those things. “Yo, somebody should ban this page.. They just make up lies every single day. I got so many people hitting me up thinking I’m fighting Linares, it’s sick, lol,” wrote Shakur.

Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time Shakur had interacted with this page regarding Campbell Hatton. 

Stevenson claims he would make Ricky Hatton throw in the towel

Earlier this month, the boxing page in question asked Shakur whether a massive payday would convince him to fight Campbell Hatton. Back then, Shakur retorted to the tweet, claiming, “I would punch him so many times Ricky would grab the towel himself and toss it in the ring.” So, the boxing page retorted with: “You talking, but you gonna run 400m each round against Campbell.”

So, Shakur quickly claimed, “Man, I prob[ably] wouldn’t even step back, lol. I’ll give every fan their money back one by one if I don’t stand right in front of that dude all night.” Considering this interaction, things did not seem hostile between Shakur and the owner of the page. So, it’s currently unclear why the boxing page decided to share fake news about Shakur. 

With no proper opponent in sight, Shakur Stevenson is on a mission to eliminate all rumors and fake news about him. However, the incident begs the question, was the boxing page trying to get some clicks through the fake news? Do you think the page should be banned?
