In depleting consumer trends of boxing, some fighters have managed to bag those massive fights. One of them remains Ryan Garcia. It is safe to assume that the fighter remains in the nascent stage of his career just because of the number of fights he’s undertaken. But the number does not match up to the fame he’s managed to amass.
In 2016, he entered the boxing world shrouded in the reputation he had made for himself in his amateur ranks. Banking on his splendid amateur record of 215-15, Garcia took his maiden fight against Edgar Meza in June of that year. It was a debut like no other, and everyone assumed that he’d win. And he did. Through a fabulous technical knockout. From there on, an era ensued that he would dominate. In his 23-fight-long career, the fighter has won all of them except the coveted clash against Gervonta Davis. In April of this year, he registered his career’s first loss at the hands of ‘Tank’. Months in the wake of the controversial loss, he takes his fight against Oscar Duarte Jurado on December 2nd. This fight like the other is all set to give him that big cheque he is accustomed to.

With a promoter like Oscar De La Hoya by his side, ‘ KingRy’ is poised to bag one of the most lucrative fights in the sport. Well, whatever their legal entanglements might look like, the two have led the way in bringing those commercial flights home. The partnership along with Ry’s track record in the sport has built him a net worth of about $12 million. He has a 5-year-long deal in place with the promoter’s Golden Boy Promotions. Most of his earnings come from his purse splits and PPV shares.
For endorsements, his main sponsor is Gymshark, the apparel, and accessory brand. The fighter has also worked with 1800 Tequila, Dior, and Gatorade. He has also done some modeling in the past. Moreover, he posits himself as a social media influencer. However, his earnings from the same have not been disclosed.
How much did Ryan Garcia make for the Gervonta Davis fight?
After his April loss against ‘ Tank’ Ry got bitter toward much of the world including his promoter, De La Hoya. In the wake of his scathing loss, the fighter accused Golden Boy of not sticking by him during camp. He further declared that he is comfortable looking for other promoters to get him better fights. As a result of this, Golden Boy declared that he would sue Ry for breaching his contract. He also further explained that he was looking out for the fighter, but the latter got swayed by people’s “whispers”. Amidst this entire fiasco, there came a silver lining. And yes, it was the money.
While defending his fight against Tank, Ry told the world that despite his loss, he went home richer that night. In an earlier revelation, the fighter said that he made about $30 million for his fight against Tank. He also corroborated that the high-profile bout met its demand and further earned a stellar $100 million.
Ryan Garcia Fight Purses: What are his highest paydays besides the ‘Tank’ fight?
Garcia kicked off his career by initially earning around $55,000 for his fights. However, his big breakthrough came in his match against Romero Duno (2019). He secured a stunning knockout victory and a paycheck of $250,000. Despite this success, Forbes reported that Garcia felt undervalued by Golden Boy at the time. Following that fight, he ended up receiving about $500,000 in total purse earnings.
In 2020, Garcia’s bout against Luke Campbell (2021) in Dallas drew a massive live gate revenue of $353,835. Garcia himself made roughly $500,000 from the event. His fight against Emmanuel Tagoe (2022) resulted in a guaranteed $1 million payout. Along with an additional 70% share from pay-per-view sales, it summed up to approximately $3 million. According to the California State Athletic Commission, Garcia earned a minimum of $2 million in his match against Javier Fortuna (2022).
