After Devin Haney defeated Regis Prograis in December last year to become the new WBC Super-Lightweight champion, in a sarcastic statement, Ryan Garcia claimed ‘The Dream’ could put the audience to sleep even “at his finest“. Therefore, despite congratulating ‘The Dream,’ Garcia declared he would “beat” Haney. However, at the New York press conference, Devin Haney claimed Garcia lacked the IQ and heart to beat him. Well, Garcia just might be proving Haney’s statements right!
Ahead of the fight scheduled for April 20th, several training videos of Ryan Garcia became public. And in most of them, he disappointed the boxing world with his approach. Now, with only weeks left for the showdown in Brooklyn, Garcia revealed that he weighed above the limit by 14.1 lbs!

However, Garcia’s latest video contains nothing except disappointment.

For the Devin Haney fight with the WBC Super-Lightweight title on the line, Ryan Garcia needs to weigh in at 140 lbs. However, in the video, Garcia stood on the scale to discover he was 154.1 lbs. “What’s the weight looking like? You didn’t even let me check. Is this scale a trivet? 154.1! Vamos! Campeon! That’s what Eddie would say,” Garcia said, reacting to his own weight.

At the New York press conference, Garcia declared he wanted the WBC belt. “This is just the perfect timing. It’s for the WBC belt, it’s at a healthy weight [at] 140, everything’s on the line,” he had said. However, with ‘KingRy’ being over his weight by 14 lbs, one cannot help but wonder how the 25-year-old will achieve his dream.

In addition to being above the limit, in a training video of his, Garcia unnecessarily attempted the shoulder roll. Although the boxer enjoyed practicing the move, his trainer, Derrick James looked upset. However, Garcia seemed to care little. On the other hand, after the boxer hit the mitts with his pop, Olympic medalist Tony Jeffries called out the former on his behavior.
