Most often, when a boxer enters their pro-boxing career, they bring a nuanced set of experiences with them. Before they make their big debut in a giant stadium in front of thousands, they are needed to navigate a very tumultuous path. This journey is referred to as the amateur boxing career. A prelude to their big entry into boxing, a fighter’s amateur days lays the premise for what is to come in the professional boxing career.

A common conception that has seen the test of time also lies in this notion. A robust amateur career leads to a fighter landing the best of the maiden bouts in their pro-boxing career. With so much at stake, this period plays a vital role in shaping the kind of boxer they will eventually become. But what if the way their amateur fights are conducted is flawed? Where does this leave them in preparation for the bigger fights?

There is ample difference in how an amateur fight is conducted in contrast to a pro-fight. From the number of rounds held to the scoring system. And the kind of gloves worn, there is a difference in everything. But what remains constant are the basic rules that govern the entire body of boxing. It is in their amateur days that boxers learn these rules and master them. But what happens when these rules are overlooked at the very stage? What does a fighter learn? Fans implore the same.

In a video amassing views by the minute, a fighter can be seen going into a headbutt against their opponent. A headbutt refers to the intentional or non-intentional hitting of the head to an opponent’s head. Generally, a headbutt is considered illegal in any combat sport given how lethal and devastating the move could be. When this move is encountered in the ring, the decision goes to the scorecards. But that was not the case here.

The declared winner was the fighter who actually threw the headbutt. This was not acceptable to the fans. One user questioned the entire premise of the decision.

Another user pointed out that the fighter who lost the fight incurred a devastating head snap that pushed them all the way back. Yet, they were snatched of victory. The user called out the supposed ‘Robbery’.

The fighter in the red gear was the one who was given a headbutt. Pointing out that the fighter looked hurt, a user questioned why the stoppage was declared in favor of the blue.

Another user was blatant about calling the decision unfair. They did not agree with the referee giving it a stoppage.

However, this one decision shrouded the opinion of users on the entire amateur boxing scene. One labeled the entire scene, as ‘As*’.
