In the gripping documentary, Shanna Moakler revisits her journey with Oscar De La Hoya, unfolding a narrative filled with love, lies, and betrayal. She reminisces about their first encounter in 1997, a moment filled with electric chemistry, declaring, “I knew I met a soulmate.”

This initial connection quickly developed into a deep bond that saw the couple sharing a home, getting engaged, and welcoming their daughter, Atiana, into the world.

De La Hoya, who fondly remembers Moakler as the first American woman he dated, gradually revealed his struggles. He confessed to having two other children with different women and grappled with the responsibilities of fatherhood. He admitted, “To be a father is a huge responsibility…I just didn’t know how to do it.”

These challenges took a toll on their relationship. Moreover, De La Hoya’s alcoholism became an increasing concern for Moakler. She recalls, “His drinking was always an issue for me…he really does become a different person when he drinks.”

Scandals and allegations: The unraveling of De La Hoya’s double life

Their love story took a turn for the worse as allegations of De La Hoya’s infidelity began to surface. Women claimed they had slept with Moakler’s then-fiancé, causing a series of confrontations.

Moakler says, “I would chase him down in the nightclubs, and security guards would see me and they would rush him out the backdoor so I couldn’t catch him. He would always tell me, ‘No, I love you.’”

The darkest chapter, however, came with serious allegations of assault against De La Hoya. Moakler stood by her fiancé, despite accusations stemming from incidents in Mexico in 1998 and in their residence in 1999. She insists, “I stood by him because I didn’t believe any of it.”

As the narrative unfolded, De La Hoya’s appearance at the Latin Grammys with singer Millie Corretjer led to the definitive end of their relationship. In a poignant conversation, De La Hoya told Moakler, “I don’t love you anymore.”
