Last night in Monaco, a fight took place that held spectators in a chokehold. In a leveled fashion, Joe Cordina managed to retain his IBF title against the scathing attack of Edward Vasquez. The fight took its course in Casino de Monte Carlo Salle Medecin, Monte Carlo, and was entertaining throughout. Despite the fight being the headliner for the night, ring announcer David Diamante went on to become the talk of the town.
The DAZN ring announcer has been in business for about 16 years now and his name is synonymous with multiple avenues of sports, including boxing, MMA, and Muay Thai. He is infamous for the way he introduces fighters into the ring. A style that goes with him repeating the surname of the fighter immediately after he’s uttered the full name. That invoked a sense of enthusiasm in spectators. However, with the new wave of viewership, his style seems to be losing its impact.
Has the legendary Ring Announcer lost his charm?

A certain sect of the new-age boxing audience would resound with a loud, “Yes!” However, there remains a niche set of folks who still root the sport of boxing in the gone eras of dramatic announcements and commentators. Last night at the Monte Carlo fight, Diamante, donned in his signature all-white ensemble, entered the ring right before the fight began. In his legendary style, a loud voice, and a knack for getting the adrenaline rushing, he announced the Cordina-Vasquez fight.
While his announcement might have done the deal, an X account said, “Good lord this is contrived and lame.” Instead of siding with criticism, the boxing community was up in defense of the legendary commentator.
A fan explained that most announcers enter the ring with a script prepared. So does Diamante. The fans also declared that they liked his style of announcements as it builds atmosphere in the ring.
Contrived.
Deliberately created rather than arising naturally or spontaneously.
Care to name a ring announcer who doesn't script his / her announcements? Now that would be both lame & unprofessional.
Like it myself, builds a bit of atmosphere imo. Understand why others don't.

Another fan questioned sarcastically if they wanted to hear him say, “Let’s get ready to rumble!”
Idk I don’t dislike Diamanté
Always has good takes in boxing interviews seems like a nice guy
And I like the “fight starts now” part
Everybody needs their “niche” one linerWat y’all want him to say “let’s get ready to rumble?”!!!

A fan asked critics to seize the hate toward the announcer.
He’s not that bad , quit hating

Then came a realist. The user mirrored the simple workings of the business that demands Diamante to do what he does.
That’s what he gets paid for

A fan vehemently disagreed with the critic. They reinstated David Diamante as “the man.”
Disagree – Diamante is the man.
