In the midst of a cloud of uncertainty and discontent, 25-year-old boxer Ryan Garcia has strategically set his sights on a new opponent—none other than his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya. Having displayed prowess in the ring by defeating Oscar Duarte last year, Garcia is now in search of a worthy adversary to propel his career to new heights. But why is he trying to fight Oscar De La Hoya?

Until now, a great many opponents have been put before him. He has refused a fight with almost all of them. Despite the potential opponents proposed by his promoter, Garcia seems determined to take matters into his own hands. It raises the question: Can the linchpin of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, assert his influence and sway Garcia’s decision? Frustrated by the situation, Garcia has introduced a unique solution to the problem, and here’s how Oscar De La Hoya has responded to it.

The American boxing sensation initially set his sights on a match against Devin ‘The Dream’ Haney. However, a twist in the plot emerged after Garcia, influenced by his time with Floyd Mayweather, chose to go for a showdown with Rolando Romero instead.

Unfortunately for Garcia, the Rolly Romero bout hit a roadblock as Romero’s financial demands became a stumbling block for Garcia. Enter Oscar De La Hoya, Garcia’s promoter, who instead suggested a matchup with Jose Ramirez.

Unhappy with this proposal, Garcia took to Twitter, expressing his frustration and humorously suggesting a bout against his own promoter, stating, “Ryan Garcia vs Oscar De La Hoya at this point.” Not one to back down, De La Hoya too took the chance to write a hilarious remark. He wrote, “@RyanGarcia just please do not hit me in my abs, I just got them done.”

Jokes aside, the fans are now left disappointed as Ryan Garcia has yet to settle in on an opponent. It will be interesting to see which fighter he will end up facing this year. However, Oscar isn’t wrong in presuming all this indecision has something to do with Floyd Mayweather, as was witnessed by his recent Instagram story.

De La Hoya took to Instagram, expressing his dismay and putting the blame squarely on Mayweather’s shoulders. He accused Mayweather of influencing Garcia’s decision negatively, stating, “Floyd, if you want to give Ryan the secret to defense in the ring, that’s great. Other than that, if you are still a promoter like it says here, fu** off.”
