Oscar De La Hoya Extends Lifetime Invitation For Golden Boy Fights

On his way to visit a gym in LA, De La Hoya spoke to Elie Sechbach, a reporter. Approaching De La Hoya, Sechbach showed him the mural on the nearby wall. De La Hoya responded by saying, “Ohh no way! I haven’t seen that,” but jokingly remarked, “You know what, there is no six-pack.” But a bit later, he praised the artist by saying, “Wow! That’s beautiful.”

After the interaction was posted to Instagram by Sechbach, De La Hoya commented on the post saying, “Eli let me know who painted this mural so I can invite him to Goldenboy fights for life. I’m humbled and really appreciate it.”

The mural’s artist must have left a strong impression on De La Hoya, prompting him to take the time to offer the invitation. It also shows how much De La Hoya values his fan base and the community as a whole. 

Moreover, amidst legal dispute with Ryan Garcia who is signed with his promotion company, Oscar De La Hoya weighed in on a picture that caused a lot of controversy in recent days.

Besides the mural, Sechbach asked De La Hoya regarding his comment on Ryan Garcia’s picture with his former rival Floyd Mayweather, “So Oscar, I saw you left a comment on Ryan’s picture that said you are hanging out with a guy I already beat.” De La Hoya responded, “Everybody knows, right?” He further added, Robert Garcia and his father always told me, you won that fight.”

Then Sechbach probed further by asking, “So, what do you think about them hanging out, Oscar? Him and Floyd.” Oscar enthusiastically responded, “It’s fine. He can get knowledge from any top fighter. It’s great for your career; soak it in and use it in the ring. I would recommend anybody. Anybody, approach top fighters and ask questions. How did you do this? How did you do that? It’s all good!”
