Las Vegas lights flicker brighter for Tim Tszyu. His second US outing and first Las Vegas debut against veteran Keith Thurman has just become a high-stakes gamble. However, the PBC’s competitor, the Golden Boy himself, Oscar De La Hoya, isn’t a big fan of the bout and has criticized it for having no attraction. He even deemed it to be disastrous for Amazon. Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions signed a multi-year deal with Amazon’s Prime Video PPV to broadcast their fights. The March 30th event will mark their very first event together.
Prime members will enjoy exclusive access to select fights, while major pay-per-view events will be available to all viewers. Last month, Tim Tszyu and Keith Thurman had their first press conference. Some might see this event as the new era of boxing since the PBC opened up a deal with Amazon Prime. Meanwhile, De La Hoya believes that it might not be a good matchup, since both fighters are bad draws for the PPV sales.

Regarding the event, Oscar De La Hoya went on the X and wrote, “A fighter that hasn’t fought in years and a fighter that nobody knows is a recipe for disaster on @amazon great job AL.” In the latter statement, he’s talking about Thurman who last fought back in May 2022, and the other is supposedly the Australian boxer Tim Tszyu, who isn’t very well-known outside of Australia.

Despite De La Hoya’s statements, this fight holds a lot of value, especially for Tim Tszyu. He talked about how this would open up a plethora of possibilities for him in the future.

Currently, undefeated Aussie, Tim Tszyu, might have his sights set on Keith Thurman this month, but a win could see him face another undefeated force – Terence Crawford. WBO President hinted at Crawford potentially moving up in weight to challenge Tszyu, a testament to the rising reputation of the young Aussie.

But there’s more. Crawford might even become the mandatory challenger for Tszyu’s WBO light-middleweight belt, making their potential fight all the more inevitable. Tszyu said, “There have been talks between us. And I give Crawford all respect. He’ll fight anyone. And that’s why I see him as such a great challenge. But I also see him as being beatable. But there’s a lot going on (regarding who could be next).“
