What is the biggest threat to a boxer? Some would say the blazing-fast punches, but age, nobody can outrun or out-perform age. However, that’s not the case for Frank Gilfeather, former Scottish boxing champion, who competed in the 1960s. In a recent twist, the now 78-year-old turned to social media with a clip showing the younglings how it’s done. 

The Aberdeen-based pugilist is a sports journalist and broadcaster, having worked with Sky Sports and numerous others. However, the Scottish sportswriter has now ditched all that to focus on his boxing tutorials, sharing them on Instagram and TikTok. One such tutorial has taken the internet by storm, raking in hundreds of thousands of likes and a lot of stunned responses.

Frank Gilfeather still got it!

In the clip, Gilfeather unleashes a barrage of lightning-fast shots on a heavy bag, moving around like he time traveled back to when he was 17, defying his age and gravity a little bit. In addition, the boxing legend wrote in the caption, “78 and still going strong.” However, this isn’t the first time Gilfeather has gone viral on social media.

According to a 2022 report from The Sun, the Aberdeen-based sportswriter became the talk of the town in the same year for one of his tutorials on TikTok. He told The Sun that he was surprised by the overwhelming feedback from people from across the globe. Continuing his popularity, the former Scottish sensation is leaving jaw dropped through his videos to this day. 

People want to see more of Gilfeather’s boxing masterclass

After getting a hold of the clip, most fans could not stop showering the retired boxer with praise, while others were in awe of Gilfeather’s mesmerizing moves. 

One user expressed his desire to learn more from the Scottish sensation about his longevity. “Good content. Would love to know more tips from Frank on longevity, what has kept him in shape, what food he has always eaten, stretching, etc,” wrote the user. It turns out Gilfeather got fans for his moves and secrets for a long life.

Another user described how they think Frank maintains such impressive moves. “You don’t stop because you get old. You get old because you stop,” wrote the user. A healthy diet and the right attitude might also have something to do with it. 

Someone else put forth an interesting analogy of Frank’s boxing prowess. “Once a machine, always a machine,” the user commented. It’s as they say: you can take a boxer out of boxing but not boxing out of a boxer.

The next user praised Gilfeather’s unbelievable speed with the heavy bag. “That hands speed tho. Legend,” the user remarked. With moves like that, how could he not be a legend? 

Meanwhile, the next user went into detail analyzing Gilfeather’s moves. “Sure, he drops his fists as he punches, but his balance and weight-shifts are very good for his age. Bravo,” the user wrote. Well, age had to take something away!
