The Las Vegas MSG Sphere Arena has hosted numerous events over the years. Whether it’s boxing, MMA, or any other massive event, it has been a go-to venue for organizers. However, it turns out a $969 million Sphere Arena that can rival the one in Las Vegas is under plans in London. While the Las Vegas Arena can house 18,600 people, the new one in London can hold 21,500 folks. But it’s not all great news for the new sphere arena.

Michael Benson recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news with his followers. However, he also announced that the construction is on hold because local residents, councils, and competitor group AEG oppose the plans. It’s also worth mentioning that AEG owns the O2 Arena in London, so their opposition could be due to concerns about losing business. But no part of the update concerned the fans, as they left dismissing comments on the post.

The boxing fans claimed, “Don’t need another arena”

When the tweet started circulating on X, boxing fans made their way to the comment section to express their thoughts. The majority consensus was of dismissal, but a few people raised questions about the energy required for the Arena. One user highlighted that the UK is going through an energy crisis and questioned if building an arena makes sense. It’s worth noting that the UK relies on natural Gas for energy production, and currently, they are facing an energy crisis. The wholesale gas prices have surged out of control, causing many power supply companies to go bankrupt.

Another user simply commented London does not need any more arenas. According to reports, there are over eleven major such venues in London. Such as the O2 Arena, Copper Box Arena, and the Wembley Stadium, to name a few.

The next user dismissed the news for an entirely different reason. The user claimed no one cares about a new Shpere Arena. The only thing people care about is the recently announced Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight. Ironically, the fight will unfold in Saudi Arabia on 23 December or sometime in January.

While the previous users expressed their lack of concern with the new arena, this user took a different route. The user argued that whenever there is an opportunity to improve the country’s value, people often oppose it.

However, unlike others, this user showed support for the plans while complaining about the O2 Arena. The user asserted that the O2 venue was never supposed to be an arena, and there were lots of traffic issues.
