Tyson Fury is going to face Francis Ngannou a few days from today, but his namesake, Mike Tyson, is training his opponent. This coincidental fact did not sit well with Tyson Fury’s father, John Fury. So, he went on to brand the former heavyweight champion a traitor, yet Tyson Fury remains optimistic. So, in a recent interview, Fury raised serious questions about Mike’s loyalty to Francis’ corner.

Moreover, recently, news broke about Showtime exiting the boxing world. They claimed the reason behind their decision was to better allocate their resources and align their content according to their business. The news came as a surprise to many, eliciting a plethora of reactions from the boxing world. During the same interview, Tyson Fury made his opinion known about the update from Showtime. Hint – Fury is not worried!

Tyson Fury is not worried about Showtime exiting

While speaking to Fight Hype, Tyson claimed there are no issues between him and Mike Tyson despite Mike training Fury’s upcoming opponent. Fury even went as far as to claim Mike is secretly supporting him in the future fight. “Me and Mike are still cool…I’m still named after him, and he is still going to be supporting me, no matter what he says. He wants GK [Gypsy King] to win,” Fury told Fight Hype.

 

Later, when questioned about Showtime’s exit from the boxing world, Fury explained he was not worried. He claimed even HBO left boxing before Showtime, yet it did not harm the popularity of the sport. What’s more, Fury highlighted that others like DZAN and TNT Sport Boxing have replaced Showtime. “Before, HBO has left boxing, but…when one door closes, another one opens…Now we got TNT Sports, ESPN Plus, DAZN, and so many others,” said Fury.

Tyson Fury thinks he is a genius 

Six months ago, Fury was uncertain about his future in boxing, but today, he is set to enter the ring and possibly walk out with over $60 million. What’s more, the Saudi investors are not only funding Fury’s fight against Ngannou but also Fury’s potential fight with Usyk in late December. So, while appearing in an interview during their grand arrival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Tyson spoke about accomplishing that milestone in his life.

Speaking to Queensberry Promotions, Fury whimsically asserted, “I just sometimes look in the mirror and think I’m an absolute genius.” He went as far as to express his amazement with the windfall from Saudi investors. Fury explained that he looked at the fight as a redemption of sorts since he was uncertain about his future.
