Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn is one of the biggest bouts in British boxing. The two English boxers were supposed to face one another back in the winter of last year. However, Benn failed his pre-fight drug test and the bout subsequently fell through. Thereafter, ‘The next-gen,’ resorted to fighting Liam Smith instead but was handed a devastating defeat. Moreover, the two met again only earlier this month. In their second clash, Eubank Jr. was the one who rose to the occasion and avenged his defeat.

This sets up his bout against Benn who was kept in abeyance. Especially after, ‘The Destroyer,’ made a successful comeback over the weekend by defeating Rodolfo Orozco via an unanimous decision in Florida. Thereafter, post the bout, the promoter of Benn, Eddie Hearn revealed that the bout would most likely be booked for December this year.

Eddie Hearn on the possibility of Conor Benn vs. Chris Eubank Jr.

In a recent interview with @BoxingNewsPlus, Hearn unveiled that they are planning to finalize the Benn vs. Eubank Jr. fight by the end of this year. In addition, he expressed his desire for the fight to be in the United Kingdom. But at the same time, he revealed that there are offers on the table for the bout to take place outside of the country. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “We are ready to make that fight. You know, we’ll speak to the board next week. We have offer internationally. We are ready to make the fight.”

Moreover, he gave an insight into Benn’s current state of mind. He said he is in shape and will commence his training camp in a couple of weeks as he has ample time. He added, “Conor’s got a small cut. It’s 13 weeks away. No problem at all. A couple of weeks, I think he needs it and then straight back into camp. Eubank may fancy his chances, to make a nice few quid. One of the biggest fights in Britain. I hope we can get it made. ” It appears that both fighters are inclined to fight one another but there may be an obstacle in the path.

Eddie Hearn will talk with BBBofC to sanction the bout in the United Kingdom

After Benn failed his pre-fight drug test, the British Boxing Board of Control barred Benn from competing. However, it is unsure if the boxer can compete in the country by December. For the same, Hearn said that he would talk with the commission and is optimistic about their approval. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “At the moment, I don’t see a reason why we shouldn’t be allowed to fight that fight in the UK. You know it is a conversation to be had with the board.”

As it stands currently, UKAD and BBBofC have appealed the decision to lift Conor Benn’s ban by the National Anti-Doping Panel.
