In the boxing community, Leonard Ellerbe is known for his straight talk. The CEO of Mayweather Promotions minces no words when it comes to stating facts—about his work, promotions, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Take, for instance, the latest instance when he had to show the mirror to a few nitpickers trying to draw into an all too familiar squabble.
Most fans heaved a sigh of relief when they learned that the Garcia-Haney fight is back on track. But soon, the two got off to a heated start that extended to even the security guards. Now there’s let-up in back and forth. The only difference was that the latest episode, navigating through crossroads, pulled in Ellerbe. He didn’t keep waiting for too long.

“17 ppv fights w Floyd and 5 with Tank,” that’s what Leonard Ellerbe first told a user, @QueensoftheR. The latter tagged the Mayweather CEO while replying back to another follower who beckoned Ellerbe while commenting on a video @QueensoftheR shared yesterday evening.

So early yesterday, Bill Haney read the riot act to Team Garcia. Calling the security guard a ‘barracuda’ Bill Haney tweeted, “Team Garcia, tell The Barracuda he better keep his filthy, grimy paws to himself or it’s going to be big problems!”
Later that evening, responding to the post, @QueensoftheR called out everyone. They might dislike Bill Haney, but it would be a challenge if they could name any other promoter getting into all such acts. “Y’all be hating on this man… But name another promoter doing it like this????” The user said.

But things took a turn when another user tagging in Leonard Ellerbe said that it was all an attempt to take the Mayweather CEO for a ride. “@LEllerbe, they playing with u boss man it crazy how they let this guy lie to them every time,” they said. Jumping quickly into the fray, @QueensoftheR told Ellerbe not to fail pray to such antics.
But for how long did anyone expect Ellerbe to wait and watch?
Teasing the Lion in Its Own Den: Leonard Ellerbe
After highlighting the number of PPV fights he has been part of with both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and ‘Tank’, Leonard Ellerbe pointed at the biggest ever pay-per-view fight that took place in boxing history. Appreciating how Mayweather Jr. consistently broke all PPV records, he said that as of now there are only two biggest stars in boxing: ‘Tank’ and Canelo Alvarez.
So while the skeptics might try to put him down, they need to understand one thing. Even when it comes to expertise or accomplishments, there are various levels. “Done the biggest ppv events ever. Floyd is a icon/mega star and has broken every ppv record. Tank, along w Canelo, are the biggest stars in the sport now. Haters will try to downplay my work, but always remember that it’s levels to this stuff,” said Leonard Ellerbe.

Clearly, that’s a message for someone who has been the most constant feature on Team Mayweather. A United States Air Force veteran, Leonard Ellerbe, who had brief stints as an amateur boxer and a personal trainer, joined the champion’s stable way back in 1997. Many credit him big time for being instrumental in building the Mayweather brand that we all know very well today.
