Marquis Taylor has been on a roll. He achieved an easy victory against Yoelvis Gomez (6-1, 5 KOs) who appeared to have been outclassed by the more experienced Taylor. The 29-year-old displayed his skill and determination and proved all the doubters wrong by pulling off this upset. The fighter exhibited impressive strength and dexterity as he dropped Gomez in the second round of the bout. Furthermore, despite the fact that he sustained a cut right around his right eye early in the match, he still fought valiantly for the remaining rounds.

He effectively targeted the Cuban boxer’s body on the inside and even though ‘La Joya’ was considered to be a better boxer amongst the two, Taylor, proved his mettle with the unanimous decision victory. This marks his fifth victory against undefeated fighters as he remains undefeated against South Paw opponents. Moreover, Taylor has a message for all his haters after this victory.

Marvelous Marquis took to Twitter to address haters as he baths in the glory of the sensational victory he just achieved. Addressing his haters, Taylor acknowledged that everyone has a right to their own opinion. However, he added that boxing fans can sometimes be “talking out the side of your neck!”. In a sport such as boxing, oftentimes, fans can become too involved, and sometimes it results in vitriolic attacks on the entities involved. Taylor pointed out this behavior and added, “This internet give y’all a lot of confidence 😂”. Moreover, he ended his message with “It’s all love though!” hinting that he didn’t mind the hate.

Furthermore, promoter Lou DiBella also took to Twitter to address the bout post-fight in an exchange. Addressing someone calling the 25 years old a top prospect, DiBella questioned Gomez’s skills and wondered if he was just overhyped. He acknowledged that it was a “VERY clear win for Marquis.”

He called Gomez’s loss a “bump in the road”, and pointed out how he took the fight even though he has only had 6 fights so far. Marquis replied to DiBella and stated, “I tried to tell them! They look at my KO column and believe I’m an easy fight. I’m on a world class level and I’ll put my skills up against ANYBODY.” To this, DiBella acknowledged his efforts and congratulated him on his victory. Overall, even the promoter was left amazed by Taylor’s skills against Gomez.

Shakur Stevenson shares his support for Taylor

Lou Di Bella is hardly the only person who congratulated Marquis Taylor on his victory. In fact, even Shakur Stevenson took to Twitter to convey his best wishes to the Middleweight boxer. Stevenson, who is currently at an impasse with Devin Haney, addressed Taylor as he lauded the boxer. In his tweet, Stevenson revealed that two weeks prior to the bout, he had “sparred 11 rounds straight wit Marquise”.
