Fight Hub shared a short clip of Ryan Garcia and his brother Sean Garcia rope jumping on Thanksgiving Day. Next week, on December 2, ‘KingRy’ will face Oscar Duarte Jurado at Houston’s Toyota Center. He returns to the ring six months after his first career loss to Gervonta Davis. Under a new trainer, Garcia seems prepared to make a comeback and re-establish his name.
The 25-year-old Californian is putting out all the stops to ensure a win on fight night. The opponent he faces share Garcia’s taste for early stoppages. Therefore, many will closely watch to see if Ryan Garcia can make the necessary statement to silence the skeptics and doubters. Soon after Fight Hub uploaded the video, a flurry of comments trickled in. From what it appeared, the brothers didn’t enthrall many.

For obvious reasons, the common theme running through most of the comments was the loss at the hands of Gervonta Davis. The seventh-round knockout was so devastating that it became apparent that Ryan Garcia had to scale up his boxing skills.
To the following user, it seemed like Ryan Garcia was on the verge of stepping down: “Look like he about to Quit.” But for the other two followers, it was all about Gervonta Davis. The first one said that the Baltimorean world champion revealed what Ryan Garcia is made of. As a result, he is now completely irrelevant: “Tank exposed Garcia… Nobody cares about this guy anymore.”
Then the next user called Garcia, Mr. Social Media, and echoed the same tone that Davis uncovered the Californian boxer’s reality. While no one seems to bother what he’s doing, the user wondered whether his brother Sean Garcia started training him or, for that matter, whether Garcia left Derrick James: “Tank exposed Mr. Social Media. Nobody cares what he’s doing. Is his brother training him now? Did he leave Derrick James?”
The following user took time to explain the usual flaws observed in Ryan Garcia’s techniques. They claim he will continue to face defeat until he discovers a substitute for his left hook. Also, his skipping was not up to par. Apparently he wasn’t comfortable, and his legs fell far and wide. He tried his best to disguise it: “Sorry people, but if he doesn’t use anything else than that left hook, he’s going to get smashed again. It looks to me like he’s only just learned to skip; his legs are all over the place; he’s so tensed up trying to hide it.”
Away from others, the following user wanted to know details of Sean Garcia’s next bout: “I want to see Sean Garcia in the ring more? When is his next fight???”
Days after the ‘Tank’ fight wasn’t smooth for Garcia, he has a public spat with his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya. In between, he decided to change the trainer as well, and Derrick James took over the task.

Big responsibility, great payoff
Perhaps more than any other boxer, Ryan Garcia shoulders the responsibility to prove his seriousness as a boxer. Even if he wins on December 2, all eyes will be fixed on his next move. The 140-pound division is already star-studded with some of the big names in boxing. So a triumph could move him in line to challenge the likes of Teofimo Lopez, Rolando Romero, Devin Haney, if he stays back, and Regis Prograis, if he defeats Haney. Thus, once again, he will be in contention for a world title, which he has so far evaded.
