On the 25th of July, with the WBC and WBO super Bantamweight titles on the line, Stephen Fulton would finally square off against Naoya Inoue inside the boxing ring. The bout was previously scheduled to take place on the 7th of May this year in Yokohama, Japan. However, due to an unfortunate injury suffered by Inoue, the fight was postponed. While Arum believed Inoue could potentially be “as popular as Manny Pacquiao, “ Fulton has reasons to believe he is the underdog in his upcoming fight. Although Fulton is the current unified Bantamweight champion in the sport, it is safe to say that the former undisputed Bantamweight champion Inoue somewhere overshadows the American boxer with his resume. In this context, Fulton recently addressed his underdog status and vowed to turn his doubters into believers.

Despite being an undefeated unified champion in the sport, Fulton feels he is the underdog against Inoue. As a result, he feels he is being overlooked by critics and fans. According to Fulton’s statement, a number of people have already doubted his endurance and skills. “When you’re the underdog, you’re like overlooked. I’ve seen and heard a lot of things that people are saying about the power and he may not have a chin,” Fulton declared in his interview with Top Rank Boxing. However, Fulton claimed that he rather liked people looking at him as an underdog.

In Fulton’s opinion, the fact that people don’t believe in his abilities motivates him to make a point inside the boxing ring. “Inoue is this and he’s that. I like that. They don’t believe in me. Let’s make em believers,” Fulton concluded saying. Undoubtedly, the fight against Inoue is still the biggest test Fulton is facing in his career. To know whether or not he passes with flying colors, boxing fans will have to tune in.
