According to a report in Dailymail, former WBC light middleweight Champion, Jermell Charlo was arrested in Texas on December 16 for allegedly assaulting a family member, resulting in bodily harm. This was revealed to Dailymail.com by the police. The other details of his arrest remain unclear, with the identity of the victim also not revealed.
Kent A. Schaffer, the attorney who previously represented Charlo in a different case in Fort Bend, declined to comment on the matter to Dailymail.com. Moreover, the spokespeople for the boxer’s promoter PBC haven’t said anything to the media house regarding this news. In the report, it is also mentioned that Charlo has since been released from jail.
This arrest comes after a particularly tough time for Jermell Charlo, who suffered his second career defeat via a unanimous decision to undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.

This also marked an impressive 60th win for Alvarez in 64 fights.
However, for Charlo, it was his second career defeat following a 2018 loss against former WBC lightweight champion Tony Harrison. While the defeat to Canelo was devastating professionally for him, this recent arrest adds to his difficult predicament.
