Will Tim Tszyu ever get to face Jermell Charlo in the ring? Well, Tszyu vs. Charlo has been already cancelled twice in the sport. In 2022, after Charlo suffered a broken hand, his fight with Tim was called off. Later, as ‘Iron Man’ stepped inside the ring with Canelo Alvarez last year, Tszyu once again missed out on the American boxer. As a result, there remains unfinished business between Charlo and Tim.
On March 30th, Tim Tszyu will face Keith Thurman inside the T-Mobile Arena in one of the biggest events of his professional life. Ahead of this match, the Australian boxer doubted if Charlo would come back after the loss to Canelo Alvarez to face Tim in the Super-Welterweight division. Here is what the 29-year-old told Fox Sports in an exclusive.

After his loss to Canelo Alvarez in September last year, Jermell Charlo claimed boxing was his love. Likewise, he assured the fans that he would go “nowhere“. And since he felt his body did not function well enough in the Super-Middleweight division, Charlo told the media that he would return to 154 lbs and continue fighting. However, the WBO Super-Welterweight champion, Tim Tszyu feels otherwise.

According to the Australian, Charlo is unlikely to return after the loss in September. On being asked if Charlo would ever fight again, Tszyu, who brutally criticized Jermell Charlo’s performance against Alvarez, said, “I don’t think so. I actually think Charlo’s had a breakdown. A mental breakdown.” “Doing drugs and alcohol, that doesn’t help. Or letting things out on your partner. That’s why I won’t jump on the bloke too much right now, he’s going through a hell of a time,” Tszyu told Fox Sports.

However, if Charlo had to ever return to boxing, Tim feels ‘Iron Man’ would do it only for money. “His money runs out. If that happens, maybe he’s back because clearly, it’s all about money for him. Not legacy,” concluded Tim. With that said, do you think Charlo would return to the ring this year and prove Tim wrong? In addition, do you want to see Tim Tszyu and Charlo fight?
