In 2023, Filip Hrgovic solidified his claim for an IBF world title shot with impressive victories. He commenced the year with a 12th-round stoppage against Demsey McKean and followed it up with another win over Mark De Mori. Despite his deserving position for a title opportunity, the heavyweight division, brimming with choices, introduces a formidable contender in Jared Anderson.

Hrgovic, however, remains unconvinced about the hype surrounding Anderson, a highly regarded and touted prospect in the division. For that reason, the Croatian boxer has called out Joseph Parker instead which has prompted a response from Anderson on his social media. So, what is the response?

In the recent video uploaded by Filip Hrgovic, he clearly stated that he is interested in taking on Joseph Parker on March 8th, on the Anthony JoshuaFrancis Ngannou undercard. Parker has recently proven his might after defeating Deontay Wilder via unanimous decision and listed out Zhilei Zhang and Hrgovic as the prospects he wishes to fight next.

So, after Hrgovic released the video, the renowned ESPN boxing reporter Mike Coppinger posted it on X where he explained the entire situation to the fans. Well,  Jared Anderson came across this post who was a bit offended by Hrgovic’s demeanor, and called him out for it. He wrote, “But when I say something he went silent.”

Anderson had even taunted the IBF heavyweight mandatory challenger, and he’s also reacted to the views of Hrgovic about him and addressed it on his Instagram.

Catching wind of Hrgovic’s dismissive stance, Anderson responded not with fiery threats but a composed warning. After his victory over De Mori, Hrgovic was asked about his thoughts on Jared Anderson in the post-fight interview. At that time, he said, “Jared Anderson is for breakfast. For this kid, it’s not smart to fight with me.

Flashing a bright smile, Anderson took to social media, delivering a succinct message to Hrgovic, “Be careful what you ask for,” echoed his Instagram post. It’s obvious that Anderson isn’t one of those fighters who can see themselves getting belittled by another fighter in front of the boxing fans. He’ll always stand up for himself, and now wants to square up against the likes of Hrgovic so that he can prove his might to anybody.
