Jared Anderson Pleads for Forgiveness After Blasting ESPN and Top Rank Amidst Felony Charges

Days after his arrest and release, Jared Anderson profusely apologized for his actions. The Toledo, Ohio-born boxer is one of the brightest heavyweight prospects in the United States. Per the available reports, law enforcement took him into custody last week. Subjected to felony charges, the unbeaten WBC-USNBC and WBO international title holder later secured release by posting a $10,000 bond with conditions.

Jared Anderson successfully defended his title from Andriy Rudenko last August. On April 13, at Corpus Christi, Texas, he will face Ivorian-Belgian boxer Ryad Merhy. ESPN and ESPN+ will broadcast the Top Rank event. Speaking of which, he had initially slammed both the promotion and the broadcasters. Why? They had taken his case up for their discussions. Now, based on Jared Anderson’s latest social media posts, it appears that he is genuinely seeking to make amends for his past mistakes.

“I want to deeply apologize for my recent actions, I was emotional, and that is no excuse,” wrote ‘The Real Big Baby’ on X/Twitter. A close perusal reveals that the message on Instagram is a bit more detailed. He said, “I want to deeply apologize for my recent actions/words and the things that I said in a now deleted video. I was emotional, and that is no excuse.”

Next, addressing both ESPN and Top Rank, he extended his apologies while also thanking them for their unwavering support. “I want to thank espn and and all of their staff for always supporting me and covering me. I would also like to personally apologize to my promoter, Bob Arum, and my entire Top Rank family for working with me and giving me a platform to change my life and my family’s life,” said Jared Anderson.

This bit might have come as a surprise to many, given his outburst against the two. Slamming Top Rank, he reportedly said, ““Aye Top Rank, I really don’t know what the f**k going on with y’all. But on my mamma, is y’all promoting me or is y’all trynna down me, cus? It’s bad enough everybody else posting the dumba** s**t. Y’all don’t even know what the f**k going on yet. Quit doing this.”

In the latest post, he remorsefully added, “I look forward to having a long career with top rank, & I deeply regret my choice of words.” Later, he spoke about how he wants to set a good example in front of his fans and his yet-to-be-born child.

Citing police as the source, ESPN’s Mike Coppinger shared that Anderson evaded police officers. It led to a chase that finally came to an end when the boxer crashed against a median. On March 13, he will have to appear before the court for a hearing. It wouldn’t be the first time ‘The Real Big Baby’ had a close call with the law. Last November, he was arrested on charges of ‘improper handling of firearms’ while ‘knowingly’ driving under influence (DUI).
