Teofimo Lopez is geared to take on Jamaine Ortiz in their WBO super lightweight title fight. And ‘The Technician’ Ortiz is eyeing a knockout win! The pair will go toe to toe on February 8 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. It will be Lopez’s third title defense, but does he have a champion’s heart?

Both fighters have a loss on their otherwise pristine record, but Ortiz thinks Teofimo Lopez is getting another red notch. While appearing in an interview with Fight Hype today, the Worcester area resident questioned Lopez’s heart while revealing his plans for the upcoming clash.

In anticipation of the fight, the reporter questioned Ortiz about how he felt about the clash. In response, ‘The Technician’ claimed, “I will be crowned the new champion at 140. I will be the face of the 140-pound division, and I’m just excited, man. I’m ready.” When probed further about Lopez claiming Ortiz doesn’t have a champion’s heart, the 27-year-old boxer went off on Lopez.

“I’ll show him February 8 [that] I do have that Champion’s heart, and he’s going to be questioning himself once again on February 8th if he still has it,” said Ortiz. “February 8th, I’m bringing my heart. I’m bringing everything – my soul, my whole body. I’m willing to risk my life in the ring [on] February 8,” he continued.

Later in the interview, when asked about his prediction for how the fight may end, Ortiz simply responded by saying, “Knockout.” Moreover, explaining how he is better than Lopez, Ortiz stated, “I got more dog than him. I’m going [to] show that. I’m a real dog!” While Ortiz has predicted a KO win, Teofimo Lopez has a similar idea!

“The end result is that ‘The Showman’ is returning. There will definitely be a knockout. It’s not going the distance. I’m not going to leave it in the judges’ hands at all,” he continued. It’s worth mentioning that Lopez and Ortiz have both fought Vasiliy Lomachenko but produced two distinct outcomes. While Lopez won the fight, Ortiz was defeated, which gave him his first career loss.
