Boxing is a sport where each and every person has different opinions about the outcome of a fight. However, with Teofimo Lopez vs. Jamaine Ortiz, the controversial decision took many by surprise. Lopez was handed a unanimous decision win despite an amazing and arguably better performance by Ortiz.

The decision frustrated many enthusiasts and Ortiz himself. The fight was for Lopez’s World Super Lightweight belt and would have put the crown over Ortiz’s head. The Technician had told in the post-fight conference, “I thought I was winning. That’s what I believed; I believed I won the fight.” He took to social media platform X, to put out the idea of a rematch against Lopez.

Handing Ortiz the second loss of his career, Lopez made his first title defense. This was his first fight since June when he had defeated Josh Taylor. Lopez had said, ““I am champion. I am king, Glory is next for me. None of these guys want to fight me.” However, disagreeing with him, Ortiz made a tweet. He wrote, “I want a rematch, I’ll beat him again in a whole different way.” claiming his deserved win and stating how he can beat Lopez all over again.

While some fans in the comment section did disagree with the idea stating how he lost fair and square, many backed Ortiz. Lopez’s plans of fighting the P4P King Terence Crawford might just have to hold if this rematch gains much traction. But why does Lopez want to fight Crawford in the first place? Let us find out.

Crawford fights exactly one division above Lopez. He is the undisputed welterweight champion and is widely regarded as the best boxer in the scene right now. Following Lopez’s public attacks on Crawford, the latter expressed his irritation in an interview with SkySports. However, it is a fight that Lopez is really interested in.

If you look at my track record, everything that I talk about, I walk it as well. We don’t just talk the talk to amp something up, we want to walk the walk” Lopez had said.
