Back in December 2020, Jake Paul made a viral video in which he called out Conor McGregor. At the time, the YouTuber-turned-boxer was fresh out of a victory against Nate Robinson. Many considered Paul’s video offensive and a fight against McGregor was unimaginable. However, the 26-year-old remained adamant and persisted in trying all sorts of ways to secure a fight against the biggest superstar in the UFC.

Fast forward to August 2023, ‘The Problem Child,’ has made a name for himself in the sport of boxing. He defeated multiple MMA legends and former champions of the UFC. Moreover, after his most recent victory against Nate Diaz, Paul made a complete 180-degree shift and expressed disinterest to face McGregor. In addition, he mentioned the combatant he would rather face over the Irish star. Let’s take a look at Paul’s opinion on a potential fight against McGregor and his next ideal opponent.

Who does Jake Paul want to face over Conor McGregor?

As we speak, the first-ever double-weight world champion of the UFC is contractually obligated to fight exclusively under the banner of the UFC. Paul has demanded Dana White, the president of the UFC, release McGregor of his contractual obligation for a fight against him. However, White has not shown any interest to assist this bout to take place. In the post-fight interview, Paul showed a lack of interest and desire to face McGregor.

In addition, the younger Paul brother even shared some words of advice for him. He stated, “I don’t care about that guy. He needs to go to rehab.”

Thereafter, Paul expressed his desire to fight against professional boxers such as Canelo Alvarez or rematch Diaz but in the octagon. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “I want Nate in MMA. I want more professional boxers. I want Canelo.”  

 

A fight between McGregor and Paul would undoubtedly be one of the biggest fights in recent times. However, it is highly unlikely that it will take place shortly. Not to mention, even Paul appears to moving on from this bout. However, let’s take a look at McGregor’s account of the fight.

Conor McGregor reacts to Jake Paul defeating his rival Nate Diaz

McGregor and Diaz fought twice at UFC 196 and UFC 202. Their rivalry is etched as one of the greatest in the world of MMA. Before the bout, McGregor had predicted Diaz to win the contest.  However, post the fight, he showed more interest towards Saweetie, an American rapper, who was an attendee at the event. On his Twitter account, he stated, “F**k this, sweetie, what’s up”
