For his fans, Jake Paul’s upcoming fight against Mike Tyson is an entertainer. But for him, it is his chance to fulfill a vow he made some time ago to “knock the f*ck out” of Mike Tyson. Why and when did he make the brutal vow? He reflects in a new social media video.

This summer, on the 20th of July, in front of an estimated 80,000 spectators and beyond those on Netflix, the ‘Problem Child’ will face off against Mike Tyson. The fight is slated to happen at the AT&T Stadium in Texas and will be the first time the former heavyweight champion will enter the ring in four years. However, for Paul, it seems, it’s a bit more personal.

On his promotions company’s Instagram handle, a video emerged that seemed to give a backstory. In it, the 27-year-old fighter explains why he remains steadfast to go against ‘Iron Mike.’ The question has been raised by a huge chunk of his fans. He currently chases a championship fight. However, his fight against Tyson would not catalyze those efforts. Then, why is he keen on fighting an older Mike Tyson?

Paul explained that when he met the heavyweight for the first time, the latter called him by the name of his older brother, Logan Paul. “Imagine meeting your hero for the first time. And they call you your brother’s name. We don’t even f*cking look alike. Ever since that day, Mike, I’ve wanted to knock you the fuck out.”

When the Tyson vs. Paul fight was announced, a huge uproar emerged. Most levied their concerns that Iron Mike, 57 now, should not fight a fighter way younger than him. While he’s fought post-retirement, he’s mainly undertaken exhibition bouts. The last one was against Roy Jones Jr., who is just 2 years younger than Mike.

While Paul is certain he’ll knock out the legendary fighter, how does Mike Tyson feel he will fair against the influencer-turned-boxer? Let’s find out.

“So F*cking Easy,” For Mike Tyson to Defeat Paul

On the Full Send Podcast, many years ago, the coveted hard hitter explained that it would be easy for him to knock out his younger opponent. He noted, “So f***ng easy but I would never. It’s my own family. He’s got balls, I’m talking about real balls like ‘F*** you mother****er’. [His] punches you can see coming a mile away, you can see that coming a mile away. I’m 55, I can see that coming a mile away.”

“I would beat these f***ers [Jake and Logan Paul]. I’d go straight at them, there would be no boxing. The only thing I got to do is be in shape. 30 days of boxing training every day and I can fight anyone. If I’m boxing every day I wouldn’t even have to worry about diet,” further explained Mike Tyson.
