When Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson was officially announced, ‘The Problem Child,’ proud of his and MVP’s journey, branded the fight as the biggest fight in history. With a chance to prove himself against the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet,’ Paul even called the match “the fight of a lifetime.” On the other hand, Paul’s manager, Nakisa Bidarin expected the fight to be the most-watched boxing event. However, from the very beginning, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya disapproved of the fight.

In addition to worrying about Tyson’s health as the former Heavyweight champion was now 57, De La Hoya repeatedly implied Paul was not taking the sport seriously. Finally, Jake Paul broke his silence and replied to ‘Golden Boy’. Here is what he said.

In his latest interaction with FightHype, Oscar De La Hoya emphasized that Jake Paul was on the wrong route with Mike Tyson. In his humble opinion, since Paul has desired to win a world title, ‘The Problem Child’ must face active boxers of his age. “If Jake Paul wants to take boxing seriously, take the route that all the other fighters take. Tough fights, up the ranks, top 10 fighters, top five, world champion,” said De La Hoya. In addition, he ridiculed the fact that there was a gap of 30 years between Paul and Mike.

Besides showing concern for Tyson’s well-being, De La Hoya even claimed that Paul vs. Tyson would not set the right image for boxing as a sport. However, he felt the fight scheduled for July 20th would bring laudable exposure to professional boxing. On that note, in his reply to De La Hoya, Jake Paul now said, “Oscar De La Hoya has a lot to say about me and Mike Tyson…I hope he’s as concerned about Ryan Garcia’s health and his own legacy.”

In this context, it must be mentioned that Ryan Garcia, who is promoted by De La Hoya, lately made several questionable statements on social media which led people to worry about Ryan’s mental health. In fact, the New York State Athletic Commission recently ordered ‘KingRy’ to have a mental health evaluation. Anyway, with that said, what do you make of Jake Paul’s response to Oscar De La Hoya?
