The 32-year-old took to Twitter and shared a bold message regarding the opponents he would like to face. He pointed out that everyone has been calling him out since this deal and he was more than ready to welcome any challenger. “Looks like it’s CANELO VS EVERYBODY. I love it” he wrote.

Following the Charlo bout, Alvarez will have a range of options for his second and third fights under the deal. Potential matchups include facing David Morrell, Demetrius Andrade, or engaging in a highly anticipated showdown with fan-favorite David Benavidez. Moreover, he could also potentially move up a weight class to face Dmitry Bivol or Badou Jack. While it is uncertain who Alvarez will face, this deal has bought on some wild possibilities for the Mexican who is still one of the best draws in the sport. However, Alvarez’s former promoter Eddie Hearn feels that not every one of his fights is guaranteed to bring in massive viewership.

Eddie Hearn speaks up on Alvarez leaving Matchroom for PBC

In a recent interview, Hearn who has promoted Alvarez’s last seven fights claimed that DAZN, the streaming platform that previously had a partnership with Alvarez, is fine with losing the boxing superstar. He also acknowledged that while Alvarez has been a massive name and generated significant numbers for DAZN, there comes a point where the broadcaster questions the value they are receiving. This, combined with the lack of opponents for the Mexican made it beneficial for both parties to part ways.

“I am not just saying this, but honestly, DAZN is fine. It got to a stage where not every Canelo Alvarez fight is a success for DAZN. He is a massive name who’s done massive numbers for us. He’s always been a success for Matchroom. But it comes to a point where the broadcaster [says] ‘am I getting value?’ and the fights that are available. The answer is ‘not necessarily.’ If we had the Charlo fight or the Benavidez fight, things may be a bit different, but we don’t.” he said.

Now, only time will tell whether the Mexican superstar can live up to his claims.
