Concerns about Ryan Garcia being addicted to alcohol have been growing for a while now. Well, according to what he revealed in a recent conversation, for once, rumors may just be true. In a startling confession, the fighter stated that he does consume alcohol during camp. But does it not affect his training? Maybe. Or maybe he’s just “built different?”

The 25-year-old has been under fire for his alarming social media antics. In the conversation, the 25-year-old was quizzed on his dependence on alcohol through camp. The fighter, who claimed to be deep into his camp for the Haney fight, however, noted that alcohol does not affect his behavior much, and his tolerance is higher than one could presume. Ryan Garcia explained, “I could go out all night, I wake up, I train hard. I’ve knocked out people drinking. Nothing happens bro. It’s all in your head.”

However, he does not advise the same to those who look upto him. After all, he is a fighter with a relatively younger fan base that idolizes him. “But I don’t want to be advocate either, maybe I’m just built different. Maybe it is just what it is for me. But I wouldn’t want any other kid looking at me go like, ‘Maybe I should drink during camp’.”

On the surface, it might seem like Garcia is rather easy with alcohol, but he argued that he is that way only now, after having reached a certain position in his career. Noting that he did not drink until he turned 21, he advised his young fans, “How about you stay sober, and then as you build up, you figure it out. But again, I’m not advocating for kids to be drinking or doing stupid stuff while you try to get to the top.”

In the days leading to the fight, it was not just concerns about KingRy’s alcohol concerns that rocked his reputation. Serious allegations were levied against him for drug consumption.

While the Calif0rnia-based fighter did admit in an interview that he does consume weed and alcohol, he also clarified later that he has not done cocaine. While he further denied undergoing a mental evaluation, he did not deflect from a VADA testing.

Earlier, on his Instagram stories too, he uploaded the reports of the same, which came back negative. In his conversation on the podcast, he emphasized these tests, and how they came clean. He noted, “I already took my v test and all that shit and obviously it came out clean.”

Ryan Garcia has been an avid advocate of drug testing in the sport of boxing. Accusations against him of drug abuse could have adverse effects on his career. While it is evident that he does not use any hard drugs, will his alcohol consumption cause any issues in his fight against Devin Haney?
