Mike Tyson had a chaotic childhood— grew up in poverty and witnessed hardships in his household. However, destiny was on his side; Tyson brought himself out of the trenches and became the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing’s history. Subsequently, he gained financial success and lived a life many can only dream of.

He had pet tigers in his million-dollar house and drove the finest cars of his time. He did not bother about the price and was impulsive with spending his abundant $400 Million fortune. He suffered extreme hardships in life too; He spent time in prison, was a victim of alcohol addiction, and filed for bankruptcy in 2003 amongst many other struggles. But in retrospect, Tyson’s deepest regret is losing his friends, who lost their lives due to financial reasons.

Mike Tyson gets candid about his shortcomings as a friend

Tyson is fondly called ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’, however, he is aware of his shortcomings and vulnerabilities. Not to mention, he is candid about the same which humanizes him. In a resurfaced clip by RTL info, Tyson was asked about his biggest regret. To which, he had a sentimental response— he expressed losing his close friends who lost their lives due to financial constraints.

Tyson regrets not helping them when he was in the position to help them. He stated, “I regret I lost some good friends over money. Yea, I regret that. I wish I gave them that money.”

Tyson, apart from being a fierce competitor in the ring, is a caring friend outside of the squared circle. However, he thinks he had his shortcomings at times as could have saved his friends’ lives by helping them. Not to mention, he was friends with one of the most famous rappers of all time, Tupac Shakur. In an interview, Tyson spoke about a regret that he shares with Tupac’s demise.

On September 13, 1996, Shakur died a tragic death at a young age of 25. He was shot 6 times at a stoplight in Las Vegas. Intriguingly, he was great friends with Tyson and was coming from the arena after watching one of his fights. Years after his demise, Tyson revealed that his regret is not getting to smoke weed with him. As per Fandom Wire, Tyson stated, “He always wanted me to smoke weed with him, and I never did it, and I wish I did. That’s my biggest regret.”
