Shields is widely regarded as one of the greatest female boxers of all time. She has an active social media presence and does not shy way from sharing her thoughts and opinions. In the past, Shields has been very critical of Alvarez as a boxer and it appears to be the case even today. Ahead of the fight, Charlo was asked if he could stop ‘Saul,’ in their bout. While answering in the affirmative, he claimed to have ferocious power in his hands to get a stoppage. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “I think I can knock [Canelo] out, yeah. I think I have the power to knock him out.”

This caught the attention of none other than Shields. She re-posted the post on her Instagram story and stated, “I’m in that MF too.” It is evident that the former multi weight champion predicts Charlo to be the victor. However, at the time when the bout was announced, she expressed her disdain towards it.

Back in July, when the fight was announced, the undefeated female boxer on X (formerly Twitter) expressed her dissatisfaction over Charlo moving up in weight class to fight Alvarez. Moreover, at the same time, she gave due credit to Charlo for stepping up and fighting one of the best pound for pound fighters in the sport currently. She stated, “I don’t like the match up, because size matters! But shit skills, grit, that unwilling to lose Mindset matter too! So If I can conquer a giant so can. @TwinCharlo let’s get his a*s!!!!
