Jermell Charlo targets ‘The Mexican Monster’ and the enigmatic Omaha fisherman after Alvarez

In a recent interview with ES News, the 154-pound champion revealed his plans following the Alvarez fight. Topping Charlo’s roster is David Benavidez, the WBC interim 168-lb champion, who has been clamoring for a shot at Canelo for five long years. Moreover, next on his list was former IBF champion Caleb Plant who recently got into an altercation with his brother Jermall. Finally, ‘Iron Man’ chose undisputed Welterweight champion Terence Crawford as his final choice also taking some shots at the Omaha native.

“I’m right where I should be, and if I need more work to do, I’ve got work to do. But a win over Canelo will put me in as one of the greats, and then I take his belts. Then I’ve got to fight the Mexican Monster and I’ve got to fight Caleb Plant, so I’m gonna have to fight the big boys. So, I’ll have all little motherf***rs trying to fight me, and I’ve got the Omaha fisherman.” he said

Charlo’s admiration for Crawford’s boxing prowess is evident, but the encounter might take a while to materialize. Charlo’s impending rematch with Canelo and his subsequent duels with Benavidez and Plant could potentially push the clash with Crawford to 2025 or 2026. Despite this, ‘Bud’ revealed his interest in moving up three weight classes to face the winner of Charlo vs Alvarez.

Terence Crawford eyes move to the 168-pound division to become three-division undisputed champion

In a recent conversation on The Joe Rogan Experience, Crawford expressed his willingness to move up to the 168-pound range and take on the winner of the  Alvarez- Charlo fight. For ‘Bud’, the allure of facing the victor in what he believes would be the biggest fight in boxing history is undeniable. Moreover, he wants to become the first person to become an undisputed champion in three weight divisions.

“No, 168. Yeah [I want to move up]. Yeah, if [Alvarez beats Jermell Charlo]. Or Charlo. The winner. I want to be a three-time undisputed [champion],” said Crawford.

Crawford’s aspirations transcend the confines of weight divisions. As he sets his sights on potentially moving up to the 168-pound division to face the victor. However, Alvarez has already dismissed the possibility of a fight with ‘Bud’ if he comes out as the winner.
