Devin Haney is the new WBC junior welterweight champion of the world. Perhaps the best thing that has happened to him in recent times. Since his win against Regis Prograis, everyone and their aunties in the boxing world want to take him on. On a similar note, Conor Benn has emerged as a potential opponent for Haney. The update comes during Benn’s ongoing fight discussions with Chris Eubank Jr.
The Brit was supposed to face Eubank Jr. in February, per Eddie Hearn. But things aren’t looking great for the fight because there hasn’t been any official confirmation from Eubank Jr.’s corner. In a surprising twist, Benn might have found himself the perfect opponent after Bill Haney expressed interest in arranging a clash between Haney and Benn at 147 lbs.

In response to Bill’s statement about him, Conor Benn insinuated Chris Eubank Jr. was doing everything to avoid a fight with him. So, if Devin Haney is open to fighting on 3 February, he is ready to go toe to toe with Haney at 147 lbs. “Eubanks lost his pen again so if you fancy feb 3 at spurs @Realdevinhaney I’ll welcome you to the 147 division,” wrote Benn. While Bill Haney might be planning a tango with the royalty, Devin might have his own plans.

After the one-sided beating, Haney delivered to Regis Prograis, Ryan Garcia loudly and publicly called out Haney. While Haney has a lot of options to choose from, Ryan Garcia seems to be at the top of his priorities. During the post-fight press conference on Saturday night, when asked about a fight against Garcia, Haney claimed, “That’s a possibility. That’s a mega-fight.”

He later added that it’s sad that the fight is happening after Garcia suffered a loss, “But it was only a matter of time.”
