With Amanda Serrano defending her Featherweight titles against Nina Meinke, Puerto Rico was supposed to witness one of the biggest boxing events today in San Juan. However, due to Serrano sustaining an eye injury just a day before the fight, the Puerto Rican Boxing Commission canceled her fight against Nina Meinke. At this, while boxing fans who had paid for the match were utterly upset, several figures from the community took a stand for ‘The Real Deal’.

Besides Jake Paul who openly lauded Amanda Serrano, Claressa Shields, Sulem Urbina, and Shadasia Green took to social media and prayed for Amanda’s recovery. On the other hand, ‘The Problem Child’ hoped the fight would come to fruition after Serrano recovered completely.

After the official cancellation of Amanda Serrano vs. Nina Meinke, Paul’s manager, Nakisa Bidarin told the press that Serrano had her hair done on Friday. Unfortunately, after she went for a run, a chemical fell into her eye from her hair leading to an “exposed cornea“.  But, Jake Paul praised ‘The Real Deal’ for being the “warrior” she is.

Addressing the media, Paul emphasized that Serrano wanted to fight “with an exposed cornea“. As a result, the promoter said, “She is so tough. It’s very sad. I wanted nothing more than to support her and see her fight as well.” Along these lines, ‘The Problem Child’ hoped they would be able to “run it back” after Serrano’s injury has completely healed.

In this context, Claressa Shields joined Jake Paul and expressed how sad she was as Amanda Serrano did not get to fight in front of her hometown.

On the other hand, Amanda Serrano apologized to her fans because of the unprecedented situation. Shedding tears, the undisputed Featherweight champion announced she came to fight. However, Serrano bemoaned that the doctor did not “clear me“. At this, replying to Serrano, Shields said, “No need to be sorry!

On the other hand, Mexican boxer, Sulem Urbina shared Shields’ feelings. “This is so sad,” wrote Urbina, hoping “Serrano gets healthy“. Additionally, Urbina hoped Meinke would receive her payment. In this context, it is worth mentioning that MVP promised to pay Meinke her “fight purse in full“, acknowledging the cancellation “equally” affected Nina.
