The glitz and glamour of Hollywood can be awfully deceiving, it even left the boxing legend Mike Tyson on the verge of destruction. Tyson’s Hollywood journey brought him fame, fortune, and relationships with high-profile celebrities. However, the combined pressure of celebrity lives began to take their toll on the once-invincible boxer. Even his personal life became marred with controversies, scandals, and legal issues.
When Nick Cannon appeared on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, they delved deep into a discussion about the dark side of Hollywood. It all started when Tyson’s co-host DJ Whoo Kid asked him about his mentors. To this, Cannon replied that he has had a lot of mentors throughout his life. He revealed how Jamie Foxx looked after him when he was 15 and that he even used to sleep on the actor’s couch. He also spoke about his first deal with Will Smith. Cannon revealed that Smith had introduced him to Quincy Jones when he was just 16.

It was then when Whoo Kid asked him if he feels lucky to have received mentorship from such figures. He asked, “You feel like you’re lucky to get tips because it’s a dirty business.” Unsurprisingly, Cannon agreed with the statement and asserted that it has always been and will continue to be so. He went further and labeled Hollywood as a demonic business. He claimed, “Yeah it’s a demonic business let’s call it for what it is- this is a dark business.”

However, Tyson suddenly made a joking remark from the side that had Cannon in splits. Continuing the theme of the comparison, ‘Iron Mike’ claimed, “I just think that the devil gets a bad rep,” essentially stating that the Devil is nothing in comparison to the people out there. Moreover, Cannon compared it to the “Devil’s advocate”. Tyson added, “You know in order for him to recognize you, God has to acknowledge you first.” Cannon agreed with the remark and stated, “Facts, you gotta know how to play, like, that’s why I say I like to be God energy amidst the devils.” Whoo Kid adds an intriguing dimension by asking whether they feign ignorance about others’ intentions to survive.
Cannon acknowledges Tyson as his mentor, crediting him with teaching the art of war, where intelligence is concealed behind a façade of naivety. Tyson concurs, emphasizing that a wise person can act foolish but not vice versa.
