Shakur Stevenson is considered by many as the upcoming rising star in the world of boxing. Just at the age of 26 years old, he has held belts in multiple divisions while remaining undefeated, showcasing his talent in the ring. However, his recent performance against Edwin De Los Santos has left a lot to be desired in the eyes of boxing fans. Even though he won via unanimous decision, he wasn’t at his best.
The fight didn’t have much action as Stevenson simply used his elite defensive genius to halt any chances of aggression from his opponent. However, he didn’t appear aggressive himself, resulting in a rather boring fight for the fans. This is something that even he agreed with as he shared his disappointment about his poor performance against Los Santos. Stevenson outclassed the Dominican boxer but failed to win the crowd. Here’s what he has to say about his performance tonight.

Throughout the fight, the fans were booing, as they didn’t see the performance they desired from Stevenson. Moreover, the boos continued even after the fight as the new WBC lightweight champion did his post-fight interview. Speaking on his performance, he stated, “I don’t really care about, I had a really bad performance tonight. This led to the interviewer asking him, “Shakur, you seemed like a one-hand fighter, tonight, you only landed 21 left hands, I know you wouldn’t talk about it, and ‘Pop Pop’ wouldn’t tell me anything about your left hand, was your left hand good?” However, the young champion refrained from elaborating on it. He simply explained, “Ayy, listen here, I don’t got nothing to say about that I don’t make no excuses. It happens, we go through a lot as a fighter. I’m good.”
Moreover, the interviewer also asked him to elaborate about Stevenson stating he was not feeling good. To this ‘Sugar’ stated, “I just didn’t feel good, I didn’t feel good before the fight. Honestly, I already told myself, if I’m feeling like this in the ring and if it’s not going well, I’mma box and get the victory.” It is clear that even Stevenson is not too happy with his performance. Now the question arises- Is he prepared to take on the likes of Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney, and such fighters?
