The two super-middleweight boxers, Caleb Plant and David Benavidez squared off with each other in March this year. At the time, Benavidez was the talk of the town as a prospect and Plant was the former champion, trying to make his way back for the world title. However, the former champion fell short and was defeated via a unanimous decision. However, it bears mention that ‘Sweethands,’ gave Benavidez one of the toughest fights of his career.
Months later, in a recent turn of events, ‘The Mexican Monster’ is set to make his return to the ring against Demetrius Andrade. However, ahead of the fight, he weighs in on the possibility of a rematch against Plant. So let’s wait no further and look at what he had to suggest.

In an interview with Showtime Sports, the undefeated boxer looked back at his fight against Plant. According to him, the fight was an entertaining watch. However, at the same time, he claimed he would have fetched himself a stoppage victory had he made certain adjustments. Moreover, he refrains from answering if he would want to face Plant in a rematch in the near future.
Reflecting on the same, he stated, “I thought it was a great performance. To be honest with you, I am a little upset on myself that I did not get the stoppage. You know I think if we would’ve done somethings a little bit different we would have got it. It was a great fight overall. I feel like it lived up to the hype. We gave the fans a massive fight, a massive event, and a fight for the year books to remember.”
However, when told about Caleb Plant demanding a rematch, Benavidez simply smiled without remarking on it. Will the rematch take place? Only time can tell. In the same interview, Benavidez revealed how he gained respect for Plant.

It is ubiquitous to see Benavidez being put on the back foot. However, in the early rounds of their bout, Plant was getting the better of him. Subsequently, Benavidez found Plant to be a formidable opponent and made sure to make his respect evident. In the same interview, he added, “Like I said, we won the fight but ultimately, Caleb Plant won my respect.”
