Shakur Stevenson is carving a niche for himself in boxing. With belts in several weight classes and an undefeated streak, he’s undoubtedly talented. Yet, his recent bout with Edwin De Los Santos didn’t quite meet fans’ expectations. Although Stevenson secured a unanimous win, the match lacked excitement. Rather than showcasing his usual aggressive style, Stevenson relied heavily on his defensive prowess. This defensive strategy effectively neutralized De Los Santos but didn’t resonate with the audience.
Prior to the fight, he was in talks with a potential fight against the former undisputed champion Devin Haney. However, after the two weren’t able to come to terms over the purse split. Then he proceeded to set his sights on Vasyl Lomachenko. But he couldn’t make that fight as well. Now after his controversial victory against De Los Santos, it seems Stevenson, is still looking for a way to make the fight happen. However, he may end up fighting his previous opponent once again before that.

It appears that Stevenson is looking for a fight after De Los Santos to rid himself of all the criticisms he has received so far. With Ryan Garcia in talks with Haney and Davis out of the picture, it has become rather hard for him to pick an opponent. With his options dwindling, he is seeking a rematch with his previous opponent to right the wrongs of his previous performance. Recently in a tweet, he hinted at a potential rematch against De Los Santos. In his tweet, he wrote, “Say rs Del los Santos is a really good fighter too… He’s world champion caliber Wit really good skills and have a great future and I’m fs willing to give him a rematch down the line But that night was his best shot at beating me and he blew it”.

The fight against De Los Santos makes sense as he gave Stevenson a hard time last month. Moreover, a bout with Lomachenko also interests Shakur but is Lomachenko interested in making that fight?
Lomachenko fight remains unlikely
Not so long ago, a question was raised regarding who Stevenson was going to pick for his next fight – Zepeda or the winner between Loma vs. George Kambosos Jr.. In response to Stevenson’s remark which read, “They all said no to fighting me before hopefully they changed they minds now right,”. a fan pointed out, “You and Loma would be the best fight of the Year hopefully he mans up and take the fight”.

To this Stevenson agreed and stated, “Skill for Skill it’s a very high level fight and I got so much to prove right now which will make it so much more fun Loma & Top Rank rather him fight Kambasos tho”.

A fan speculated, “They probably just want Loma to get a win under his belt before making the fight with you. Loma doesn’t really have anywhere else to go at 135, it’s not like Tank would fight him.”

Stevenson responded positively, saying, “Yeah I thought the same thing only time will tell but from the chair I’m sitting in it don’t look like it to me…”. His words hinted that Loma’s camp just might not be interested in a fight against him.
