In his recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Oscar De La Hoya predicted Terence Crawford‘s fate against Canelo Alvarez in a potential fight. According to De La Hoya, against Alvarez, Crawford will come off with flying colors anytime. As per the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, besides being talented, Crawford is a “big guy” who can even “walk around at 168 if he wants to“. Likewise, for De La Hoya, Crawford would undoubtedly defeat Alvarez at 164 too.

Terence Crawford will beat Canelo anytime. Anytime. Terence Crawford is a big guy. He can walk around at 168 if he wants to,” De La Hoya said. “If this fight is made at 164, Terence Crawford all day,” he added. In addition to that, De La Hoya called Crawford a master who would make Alvarez look like a child in the ring.

De La Hoya has promoted Canelo and likewise wants the best for the latter. However, from an expert’s, fighter’s, and promoter’s view, he understands that Crawford is head and shoulders above Canelo as far as talent and footwork are concerned. “With just the skillset alone, Terence Crawford is a master,” said De La Hoya.

The difference is going to be the talent, the feet, look at Canelo’s footwork. He’s walking on cement. Look at Crawford’s footwork. He coordinates it with his upper body. His footwork is just incredible. He knows how to keep the distance,” De La Hoya explained. “He will make him look like a child. And that’s just my boxing experience,” firmly declared the 50-year-old.

10-world-titles perspective over personal preference

Personally, De La Hoya wants Canelo to win against Crawford. However, given the experience he has, De La Hoya understands that Crawford’s victory is “a no-brainer“. “I promoted Canelo and I want the best for him. But from a promoter’s view, from an expert’s view, from a fighter’s view, and don’t forget it, it’s 10 world titles in six divisions, from that perspective, Crawford will beat him in a master performance, any given day,” stated the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions whose sexual orientation was recently questioned.
