Former Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is set to fight Joseph Parker on the mega show in Saudi on December 23. What is ironic is the fact that, on the same card, fights his greatest rival, Anthony Joshua. The two have been beefing since 2019 with hopes of gaining heavyweight supremacy. There have been countless attempts to make the fight happen but it has sadly always ended up in vain. Until recently, when the two will finally get to have a face-off against each other this Saturday.

According to reports, both sides have also finally agreed to a fight, with a tentative date of March 9th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. But before the two get down to business, it is vital that both of them secure wins this weekend. Joshua is the main event, fighting against Otto Wallin. In a video, Wilder can be seen talking about his predictions for his fight against AJ.

Why is Wilder confident about a first-round knockout against Anthony Joshua ?

Deontay Wilder was asked what round he thinks he’ll knock Joshua out.  He said confidently, “I picture first round to be honest, I picture a first-round knockout”. He went on to explain, how his current self is better than almost everyone out there in the ring. Wilder is recognized for his formidable fighting approach, highlighted by his potent punches, particularly his devastating right-hand punch that he employs to secure knockouts against his adversaries. His fighting style is further characterized by remarkable athleticism and agility, enabling him to evade incoming punches and effectively counter his opponents.

Talking about why he is better than Joshua, Wilder said, “His style, I’m faster than him. He’s a robot“. Wilder seems fully confident in his anticipated match against Joshua. After losing their respective world titles to Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury over the last three years, Joshua and Wilder are both set to make a comeback. However, Wilder has also pointed towards the actual cause for his previous bout with Joshua not materializing.

While previous attempts to make a fight were reportedly met with financial issues, Deontay Wilder says otherwise. The Bronze Bomber told BBC, “Money hasn’t been the issue”. Wilder said that the real reason was because Joshua lacked the courage and the heart to face him in the ring. However, Wilder did not put all of the blame on AJ and also slammed his promoters.

Wilder said, “I don’t really just blame it on Joshua. I blame it on his handlers, on his promotion and his management. Because let’s face it Joshua is the cash cow of the company.” Wilder believes it is not just Joshua but also his promoters who are afraid that the money will stop flowing in if their fighter takes a loss.
