“He Just Keeps Getting Better and Better”: Fans Laud David Benavidez as He Adds New Mayweather Shoulder Roll in His Arsenal Ahead of 175Lbs Move

David Benavidez seems to be tired of Canelo Alvarez trying to avoid a fight against him at any cost. So, ‘The Mexican Monster’ recently revealed on social media that he will move up to 175 lbs to fight Oleksandr Gvozdyk in June. However, that didn’t stop him from taking digs at the Mexican superstar.

One of the reasons Floyd Mayweather dominated Canelo Alvarez during their fight was Floyd’s superior skills in the ring. And his famous shoulder roll was definitely one of them, so Benavidez decided to add that move into his arsenal. Seeing this unfold in a clip shared by Fight Hype today, the boxing world erupted with praise for the undefeated ‘Mexican Monster.’

David Benavidez exacts revenge

Since Benavidez defeated Demetrius Andrade, he has been pursuing a fight against Canelo Alvarez, but to no avail. What’s more, recently, reports came out that Canelo will fight Mexican counterpart Jaime Munguia on May 4 for the Cinco De Mayo weekend. This was before PBC had offered Canelo a lot of money to fight Benavidez.

However, things still didn’t work out. And later sources revealed Canelo had parted ways with PBC altogether. So, Benavidez decided to taunt Canelo in the training clip in question. Fight Hype titled the clip, “David Benavidez TAUNTS Canelo with NEW Mayweather SHOULDER ROLL for TURNING DOWN Fight.” And fans are seemingly loving it.

Fan claims Canelo Alvarez is toast now

The way things are right now, it doesn’t seem like the Canelo Alvarez vs. David Benavidez fight would ever happen. However, for fans, Benavidez would wipe the floor with Canelo after Benavidez added the shoulder roll to his arsenal. One user commended Benavidez for getting better and better every day. The user wrote, “My god, he just keeps getting better & better.”

Someone else suggested not just for Canelo – if Benavidez adds the move to his arsenal, he will pose a danger to everyone. “If he add this to his game, it’s gon get scary for anybody who face him. He is gettin better and better skill wise,” the user commented.

Another user thought Benavidez’s move was way better than Canelo at the very least. “Better defense & better shoulder roll than Canelo for sure,” wrote the user. 

Meanwhile, the next user thinks if David Benavidez masters the move, he will become an even bigger threat. The comment from the user read, “Oh, he’s going to be an even bigger problem for Canelo now.”

One user didn’t bring up Canelo but claimed Benavidez belongs to the top five pound-for-pound list. The user wrote, “He should be Top 5 P4P if not now he coming.” Interestingly, Canelo Alvarez is in the fourth spot on that list!

Whether David Benavidez is a better fighter than Canelo Alvarez can only be proven when the two meet in the ring. However, that may never happen since the Mexican superstar doesn’t seem to be after a difficult fight. What did you think of Benvidez’s shoulder roll?
