Andy Ruiz Jr. fought Anthony Joshua twice back in 2019. In their first matchup, Ruiz sent shockwaves through the boxing world by defeating Joshua. Unfortunately, he could not duplicate the result in their second encounter. Since his loss to Joshua, Ruiz’s boxing career has been in major turbulence, having fought in just two fights thereafter. However, Ruiz has been hitting the gym and is trying to keep himself in the best physical shape. That being said, Ruiz is aiming to take on the biggest names in the heavyweight division.
The first boxer in Ruiz’s sights is none other than Deontay Wilder. The ‘Bronze Bomber’ himself is coming off of devastating losses to Tyson Fury and has been rather inactive. So, the news of these two heavyweights clashing in the square ring came as a melody to boxing fans everywhere. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, talks of the fight have fallen through. Wilder attributed the collapse of the fight to Ruiz’s demand for $25 million. On the other hand, in a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Ruiz refuted Wilder’s assertion, branding it a baseless lie.

While talking to Fight Hub TV, Ruiz asserted, “It was all bull**it, man. He doesn’t want to fight.” Ruiz went on to explain that Wilder never even made an offer to him. “He never even gave me an offer. How am I going to say, hey, I want 25 million dollars,” said Ruiz. He then demanded Wilder to present any sort of evidence that shows he demanded $25 million.
“Tell him to show me proof that I wanted 25 f***ing million dollars because you know that’s a fucking lie,” claimed Ruiz. When asked if there was any offer from Wilder’s side. Ruiz stated, “Nothing offered…He just kept saying, oh, you know what, let’s just talk sh*t back and forth in the media,” Ruiz said. Ruiz vs. Wilder doesn’t seem in the cards for now, but one opponent is ready to fight Wilder.

The undefeated heavyweight contender, Frank Sanchez, has grown impatient for his title fight. While Tyson Fury is occupied with Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh till December, Sanchez is eyeing a fight with Wilder as an alternative. Sanchez is willing to take on the ‘Bronze Bomber,’ claiming it will be an exciting matchup, per Boxing Scene.
Sanchez initially wanted to fight Usyk for his WBO belt, but that is not happening anytime soon. He even tried to arrange a fight with Jared Anderson, but it did not work out. So, since Wilder is looking for an opponent for his next fight, Sanchez has thrown his name in the mix. Wilder has not fought since his bout against Robert Helenius. In addition, Sanchez suggests he can take down Wilder.
