Demetrius Andrade and David Benavidez are all set to face one another in a highly anticipated bout on November 25th. As the 6-ft-tall fighters of the super middleweight category prepare to fight, they hold the attention of the boxing world, as this contest will determine which one of them is the true top dog of the weight category. According to Eddie Hearn, if Benavidez manages to win this fight, he will then have a shot at challenging Canelo Alvarez.

Thus, the fight becomes all the more important to both fighters. The winner may get the prize fight they always have been looking for. Previously, Benavidez even threw a bait of $50 million in front of Alvarez in order to make the fight happen. However, his attempts ended in failure, leading to the Andrade fight. However, as the fight drew closer, Andrade took the chance to fire shots at the Mexican Icon.

Recently, a clip of Demetrius Andrade criticizing the undisputed super middleweight champion surfaced on social media. Andrade criticized Canelo Alvarez for not facing him or Benavidez, accusing him of capitalizing on opportunities rather than truly proving his supremacy.

Andrade stated, “He (Canelo) has the luxury to do whatever is that he is doing. He is fighting the undisputed at 154..that makes you the best?! Because I guarantee you that nobody at 154 looking to fight David Benavidez. Nobody at 154 looking to fight Demetrius Andrade.”

Though he shared his understanding stating, “I get the stake ‘Oh I’m fighting Canelo’ and Canelo’s like ‘yeah I’mma get the smaller guy, I’m number one’.” However, he is still irritated at the fact that the Mexican champion hasn’t faced him or Benavidez once.

Moreover, Andrade points out that Canelo has not engaged in a match with him at 154, 160, or 168, nor with David when he held the title. He claimed, “He (Benavidez) lost his belt on the scale… Canelo seized the opportunity(fight for vacant). That’s what made him undisputed. He didn’t beat the man (Benavidez) that we’re about to go toe to toe with!”. In essence, Andrade insists that Canelo’s avoidance of facing him or Benavidez directly undermines his claim to being the true champion.

Timothy Bradley claims Alvarez is avoiding Andrade

Timothy Bradley, a former pro boxer, suggests that Canelo Alvarez is avoiding a clash with Demetrius ‘Boo Boo’ Andrade. The undefeated Mexican fighter is currently without an opponent for his 2024 bout. However, he recently achieved a much-celebrated victory against Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas via unanimous decision. In an interview with Pro Box TV, Bradley, aged 40, made some explosive allegations, claiming that Canelo turned down a lucrative $40 million offer from Andrade, who recently joined Matchroom. Instead, Canelo opted to face Sergey Kovalev for $35 million.

This decision raises questions about whether Canelo is avoiding Andrade. When a fighter declines a more substantial payday to take an easier path, it can be seen as evading a challenging opponent, as Bradley points out. In this case, Canelo’s choice to face Kovalev rather than Andrade appears to fit that description. It’s worth noting that Canelo previously defeated Kovalev in November 2019, while Andrade held an undefeated record of 28-0 at the time.
