Devin Haney came pretty close to crossing off every name on his lightweight hit list, though he was unable to do so. The 25-year-old acknowledges that some fights went unfought, but he is proud of his victories over Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr. One fighter that Haney should’ve gotten to is Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. However, with Haney winning his fight against Regis Prograis, a fight between him and Davis seems to be the talk of the town.

Right now, it seems the two are beefing up on social media. Haney took to X to call Davis out. Davis has since then made more than a few tweets and even posted an image on Instagram, which was later deleted. The post took a dig at Haney. Let’s look at what it said.

Gervonta Davis, amid all this heat, took to Instagram to post an image of his fight against Ryan Garcia. The photo captioned, “When idols become rivals,” took a shot at Haney, who can be seen sitting ringside looking up at Tank. The post had accumulated more than 2500 comments before being deleted from Davis’ account.

The fight against Garcia generated a whopping $22.8 million. This begs the question of whether Haney vs. Davis can really pull the same numbers. While Davis vs. Garcia pulled numbers due to Garcia’s media presence, Haney vs. Davis will be a fight involving purely skills and prowess. If their fight does take place in 2024, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for every boxing enthusiast.

After a year off, “The Destroyer” Conor Benn made his comeback to the ring in September, winning via decision over Rodolfo Orozco. He was at odds with the British Boxing Board of Control when he achieved that victory. Benn’s failed drug test in the autumn of last year caused the issue where the Brit could no longer fight in the UK. Recently, his fight against Chris Eubank Jr. also failed negotiations. Benn has now set his eyes on a possible fight with Haney.

Considering that both are represented by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing, the fight between the two is not as far-fetched as it seems. Benn also believes that Haney should fight him first and the winner can then fight Davis. Unfortunately for Conor Benn, Haney has a lot more financially lucrative options available right now. Haney has also shown interest in fighting Garcia who is the bigger draw.
