Fantasy duels – Though confined to the realm of imagination, stir debates and elicit predictions from fans and experts alike. Something of that sort happened after Terence Crawford wiped the floor with Errol Spence on 29 July 2023. The entire boxing community was abuzz as they compared Floyd Mayweather’s 50-0 with Crawford’s 40-0. Fans voiced their opinions on “X,” trying to prove one’s superiority over the other. But only an expert can draw a precise conclusion between two elite fighters. And who better than ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley, who has faced Mayweather in the past, to predict the results?
With a win over Errol Spence, Crawford became the only male boxer to hold undisputed titles in two divisions. Something even ‘Money’ Mayweather doesn’t have. And as for the 50-0 record record, Crawford doesn’t seem keen on breaking it, per a CBS Sports Radio interview with Maggie & Perloff. But could he take down the one and only Floyd Mayweather? Shane Mosley has the answer! Being a true boxing legend who’s been in the ring with Mayweather himself, Mosley’s the go-to guy for a legit prediction.

During an interview with The Art Of Dialogue, Mosley analyzed the hypothetical fight between Crawford and Mayweather. The results will shock you! Mosley began by saying, “Crawford has the same mentality as me. He is hungry, and he is going to come after you.” He added, “But May Weather can be tricky,” and explained Crawford can go right-handed and switch to left-handed, which can turn the favor towards Crawford. Mosley emphasized if Crawford could hit Floyd like him, “It might not end well for Mayweather.”
He also explained that despite Crawford’s strength, Mayweather could outbox him.
“Crawford has the mindset that I am trying to knock you out, and Mayweather knows how to play that,” according to Mosley. He compared Crawford to José Luis Castillo when he fought Mayweather for the first time but gave Crawford the edge.
Mosley then pointed towards Crawford’s physical advantages, like long arms, brute strength, and southpaw stance. He also said, “He don’t care about the Philly defense style, whatever style, he don’t care about that, he’s just trying to get you.”
Explaining that Crawford will ensure his combinations get Mayweather, Mosley said, “he has to either hurt Crawford and get some respect or something.” Up until this point, Mosley wasn’t quite sure, but when asked to pick one, he picked Crawford. He explained, “I would go more with the Crawford thing because he is stronger and powerful. He has like different punch angles and stuff like that he throws.” But this isn’t the end of his prediction. Mosley analyzes the phases of Floyd further.

Mosley Distinguishes ‘Money’ Mayweather and ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather
During the interview, Mosley separated ‘Money’ Mayweather and ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather. He explained, “Money Mayweather, I think Crawford beats,” he justifies it by saying Money Mayweather fought for money and did everything to win money.
But for ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather, he was not so sure. He said, “Pretty Boy Mayweather was hungry too. So things can be difficult for Crawford.” But later, he explains, “The reason why I say 50-50 between Pretty Boy Mayweather and Crawford is that Crawford is a wild card. He can hit with an unpredictable shot like he caught Benavidez.”
