Terence Crawford is a name on everyone’s mind after his exemplary win against Errol Spence Jr. Whether being the king of the ring or inspiring people with his journey, Bud did it all. Moreover, now, he’s appearing on interviews and podcasts to share his views on various topics. So, he recently appeared on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast. However, one such discussion that grabbed eyeballs was about his viewpoint on the canceled Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk bout.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk planned to fight in spring 2023. They struggled with the location and disagreed over potential rematch conditions. Usyk agreed to a 70/30 revenue split in Fury’s favor for the first fight. Moreover, Fury suggested no rematch clause, and Usyk denied the offer and accused Fury’s team of delay. The fighters and their teams traded insults. Now, Crawford provided a detailed outlook on the bout. Furthermore, his viewpoint revealed the fight’s dynamics.

At first, Crawford revealed his disappointment about the match’s cancellation. He expressed how excited he was for the bout and although Usyk is the smaller guy, Crawford commended his boxing skills.

Bud shared his viewpoint by saying, “I get frustrated when there’s amazing fights on the table that don’t get made. You know like Usyk and Tyson Fury. I was like, I wanna see…Usyk is small, right? I know he’s small for the weight class, but goddamn that dude is good. And the pace that he fights out at for a heavyweight is insane.”

Furthermore, he discussed how the negotiations of the fight weren’t fair. Moreover, he also elaborated on the fact that it was a little disrespectful towards Usyk. In addition to that, he also  said that Usyk deserved more and that what happened to him wasn’t right.

According to him, even his acceptance of the 30 percent split was a wrong decision. Ultimately, Crawford stated that it all came down to how badly Oleksandr wanted the fight to manifest.

Ultimately he added the resolution for such happening. Crawford said, “And for him to get disrespected, you know, in the negotiations, because I’m pretty sure that’s probably what it came down to is is it’s not right…You know these fights should be mandatory to happen so you can clean up the sport of boxing and there can only be 1 champion and one division like the UFC…I think we got too many titles, we got too many sanction bodies…We need to clean up the sport as a whole. I think the fights [ers] you know need pensions.”
