In his latest appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid after converting to Islam, claimed that he knocked out Devin Haney in their Dog-House sparring match. Additionally, he claimed that Floyd Mayweather who refereed the fight tried to protect ‘The Dream’.
In light of Davis’ statements, Devin Haney recently revealed his side of the story behind their famous Dog-House fight. Besides objecting to Davis’ initial claims, ‘The Dream’ answered why he did not spar ‘Tank’ for the second time. In addition, he claimed he had offered Gervonta a fight in the pro ring.

Speaking to Gillie Da Kid on the podcast, Gervonta Davis, who recently turned down $20 Million to fight ‘The Dream’, claimed that when he sparred with Devin Haney in the Dog House, referee Floyd Mayweather held ‘Tank’ back. According to Davis, Mayweather would frequently touch ‘Tank’ suggesting he went easy on ‘The Dream’. However, at one point in the sparring match, Davis caught ‘The Dream’ with a good punch and almost knocked out the latter.
“When me and Devin were sparring, he [Floyd Mayweather] was grabbing my arms. I’m trying to punch Devin, but he’s grabbing my arm. He pushed me on the ropes and everything,” said Davis. Likewise, Davis felt, “Floyd was on Devin’s side.”
However, he added, “It was back and forth. But once I got tired, Devin picked up a little bit. I caught him in the sparring match and almost knocked him out.” As per ‘Tank’, after he caught Haney, Adrien Broner immediately jumped in the ring to stop the fight. Anyway, two weeks after the sparring match, Davis wanted to spar with Haney one more time. However, ‘Tank’ reported that Haney turned down the proposal.
Haney wanted Davis in the professional ring
In a recent interaction with AKHI TV, Devin Haney commented on Davis’ previous statements. According to Haney, while a part of Davis’ statements was true, the rest of it was a lie. “He said that I got to him when he got tired. But, this is boxing, There’s no excuse for you to get tired. But pushing me off and he almost knocked me out, that’s cap. That’s a lie,” claimed Haney.

However, on being asked if he rejected a sparring match with Davis two weeks after the Dog-House bout, Haney answered in the affirmative. “He reached out to me through a dude named T Hill to spar. What I told him was, ‘I’m not no f***ing sparring partner. We could fight’. That’s what I said,” stated ‘The Dream’. With this information, it seems the duo should certainly share the professional ring in future. However, would you like to see Haney vs. Davis? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
