Floyd Mayweather’s Family Celebrates Nephew’s First National Championship Win

The Mayweather family has left a permanent mark on the world of boxing, crafting a legacy few can match. The most prominent figure in this lineage is none other than Floyd Mayweather who managed to leave his name amongst some of the best boxers in the world. However, the boxing legacy in his family extends beyond him. His father, Floyd Mayweather Sr. was a skilled boxer who later became a renowned trainer.

Moreover, his uncles Jeff and Roger Mayweather also contributed significantly to the family’s boxing legacy. His late uncle Roger Mayweather has also been a two-division world champion. And now it seems the younger generation is also ready to take the mantle of keeping the legacy of the family alive.

Floyd Mayweather & family share a proud moment

Recently, Mayweather’s son, Zion Mayweather posted a picture of his cousin, who goes by the name slugboi.chris on Instagram. On his Instagram story, he congratulated the young talent on becoming a National champion. He wrote, “Congrats cus” in the caption of the story. Meanwhile, his stepmother Melissia Rene also took the opportunity to give her blessing. She wrote, “Congratulations @slugboi.chris keep them W’s coming!! National Champion.”

It is important to note that back in 2020 post the demise of his uncle Roger, Mayweather shared a post on Instagram stating his intentions of training his nephew just like he got trained by his father and uncle. Mayweather had also shared a video of him sparring with his son. Undoubtedly, the hard work of the boxer under the tutelage of the former world champion has helped him get such an achievement.

Is Mayweather’s grandson the next champ in the making?

Even though the third generation of the Mayweather family is still young and is only beginning to show their talents, it seems that even Mayweather’s grandson is not far off in his interests. Being born into the Mayweather family will undoubtedly influence a child’s interest in the sport of boxing. Such is the case for Kentrell Gaulden Jr. who has also learned to imitate adults around him.

Previously, Mayweather shared a video of his grandson standing on top of a kitchen counter as he performed shadowboxing. The proud grandfather also asked his followers to follow Gaulden as he shared his account in the caption. Moreover, later on, he also shared a video of himself along with his grandson in a private jet. He tried to get the child to perform some punches for the audience but didn’t manage to get it done as Gaulden appeared uninterested.
