Recently, Curmel Moton, a 17-year-old boxing prodigy, is under Floyd Mayweather’s mentorship. He has quickly gained attention in the boxing world and earned praise for his victory in his pro boxing debut following the Charlo-Alvarez bout. Appreciating Moton, Mayweather stated, “We can’t predict the next Floyd Mayweather, but I believe Curmel could be that person.” However, recently, he has unraveled his other “secret weapon protege,” and surprisingly, he is not Moton.

In the video posted by Fight Hype, we see ‘Pretty Boy’ flaunting his new protege’s stellar boxing candidature. His name is John Easter. As Mayweather says, “5 and 0 five Knockouts, one of my secret weapons ..160.. on this way soon we rising up watch y’all for my god let’s go”

According to Box Rec, John Easter is a light heavyweight boxer. He has 5 wins and 0 losses. As highlighted by Mayweather, all his wins are by knockout. He made his professional debut on May 21, 2021. Moreover, his real name is John Earl Easter, but he goes by “CJ.” He is 21 years old and hails from South Carolina, USA. He ranks #479 globally and #55 in the USA in his division. There’s no doubt that he can stun the world like Moton.

How Mayweather’s protege ‘Big Deal’ stunned the world with his pro boxing debut

Curmel Moton won his pro boxing debut at T-Mobile Arena on September 30, 2023. The 17-year-old fought right after the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo title fight. ‘Big Deal’ knocked out Ezequiel Flores in the first round. Moton had a 156-7 record as an amateur. He excels at fighting both up close and at a distance. He won 18 national titles as an amateur and aims to dominate in professional boxing too.

Mayweather started coaching him as soon as he saw his talent. He also signed Moton to Mayweather Promotions. Initially, Curmel considered going for the Olympics before turning pro. However, he and Floyd Mayweather decided he had nothing more to prove as an amateur. They chose to focus on professional boxing instead.
