“Floyd Is Not Errol Spence”: Prime Floyd Mayweather vs. Terence Crawford Debate Continues as KSI’s Ex-Coach Viddal Riley’s Assessments Get Fans’ Hooked

Nobody could solve the puzzle that was Floyd Mayweather! Could Terence Crawford be the chosen one? Viddal Riley thinks he has the answer to this debate. The English cruiserweight champion and the former coach of KSI went into detail analyzing both fighters in his latest YouTube video shared on the platform on Tuesday.

While Crawford is in his Prime, the same cannot be said about Floyd Mayweather. Or is he? Fans can find out when the potential fight between Floyd and Manny Pacquiao unfolds in Japan. However, until that happens, here’s what Riley deduced after analyzing various fights from ‘Money’ Mayweather and ‘Bud’ Crawford.

Terence Crawford vs. Floyd Mayweather

In his video, Riley combed through multiple fight footage of Terence Crawford to score his attack, speed, durability, power, and defense. Something the Englishman did for Floyd Mayweather as well, producing a definitive answer to who would win if Prime Floyd and Terence Crawford would get in the ring to duke it out today.

The undefeated English boxer rated Terence Crawford’s skills – 9 (Attack), 8 (Speed), 10 (Durability), 8 (Power) and 9 (Defense). Later, Riley turned to ‘Money’ Mayweather, rating his skills – 10 (Attack), 9 (Speed), 10 (Durability), 7 (Power) and 10 (Defense). Calculating the total, Riley said, “Bud Crawford has an overall of 88, and Floyd Mayweather has an overall of 93, making Prime Floyd Mayweather the winner today. So, when the boxing folks discovered these numbers, chaos ensued in the comment section.

It wasn’t a shocker for the fans

One could get away with thinking arguments could be made for both sides in this debate. But that wasn’t the case in Riley’s comment section – nearly every response agreed with Riley. 

One user argued Mayweather’s defense deserved more than the ten points given. “Floyd has the highest plus-minus ratio in Compubox history, and that’s whilst beating Canelo, Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Corrales, Cotto, Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Hatton. It’s not even close. His defense arguably deserves an 11.” Can’t disagree with that!

Another user presented their assessment, though in fewer words than Riley. “Given Floyd was a master of his own style at the time. Nobody was able to crack the code to [beat] him. So, I give it [to] Floyd,” wrote the user. It’s worth noting that some people argue ‘Pac-Man’ came close.

Someone else suggested Floyd is levels above ‘Bud.’ The user wrote, “Bro, yes, why even ask[?] Terrance fights once per year. His resume is mediocre in terms of the level of opposition in comparison to Floyd!” Notably, many claim fighters try to avoid a fight with Crawford.

The next user compared Crawford’s fight with Errol Spence Jr. to Floyd and the kind of opponents he had. “Floyd is not Errol Spence. There were absolutely no adjustments by Spence. He fights the same way against every opponent. Floyd Mayweather is a different animal. Besides, he fought way better competition,” the user wrote. Side note – Spence has been featured in several pound-for-pound rankings by several organizations. 

One user expressed his confidence in Floyd, claiming Crawford never fought anyone good apart from Spence. “Floyd would wash him in his Prime, come on. Apart from Spence, he doesn’t have that many big wins,” wrote the user.
