5-Time Grammy Nominee Akon’s $6 Billion Vision For “Future Of Africa” Leaves Logan Paul Stunned

Akon is more than just a 5-time Grammy nominee artist. Amongst other things, he is a celebrated philanthropist and undertook many altruistic endeavors for the continent of Africa. In the past, he has been involved in many charitable initiatives in the continent. Back in 2014, he commenced the ‘Lightning Africa,’ project that assisted Africa in accessing low-cost yet sustainable energy.

In a recent episode of Logan Paul’s podcast, ‘Impaulsive’, Akon unveiled his plans for ‘Akon City.’ The project was announced back in 2018 and construction for the same is under way. It is reported that the project is worth over $6 Billion. What is the ‘Akon city,’ and what is the motive behind it? Akon mentioned this in great detail during the podcast.

Akon City is a planned community located in the country of Uganda. The project endeavors to have a futuristic city in Africa that has skyscrapers, massive shopping malls, and eco-friendly tourist resorts among other things.

In the episode, he expressed that the project is a stepping stone for the development of Africa. In addition, he gets candid about how he foresees the future of Africa. He stated, “So Akon city is just the beginning of the future of what Africa development should and I would like to look forward to looking like. Everybody has their process of what they see the future of Africa to be”

But do you wonder why is he doing this? In the same episode, he talked about the continent being exploited for the resources it possesses. However, he expressed his dissatisfaction with Africa not being compensated and reaching its utmost potential.

He added, “I have seen how Africa has been taken advantage for so long, especially when you come for natural resources and none of it goes back to building Africa itself so what I have been doing is trying to get as many entrepreneurs as possible to invest.”

He also unveiled that this altruistic project was subjected to criticism and negative attention. A backlash for such a project was not something he anticipated or expected. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “I was getting so much pushback from press, government officials, all kind of stuff, it was wild.”

His project is quite intriguing, to say the least. As of today, the project is still in the making and will take a couple of more years if all goes as planned. But his selfless endeavor is laudable.
